“"Amazing stay at the Haytor Hotel"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

We have just had a fantastic 8 nights stay at the Haytor Hotel.Roger & Peter are the perfect hosts, nothing was any trouble to them.We were made very welcome on arrival, and given lots of information about everything .The room we had was very tastefully decorated to a really high standard very comfortable bed with lovely pillows etc..spotlessly clean. The breakfast room is gorgeous, had great breakfasts served by Jean who was wonderful & very friendly.Great facilities the bar was an asset to the hotel plenty of choices, we spent quite a few afternoons sat on the beautiful garden terraces drinking champagne.Dave my husband was stung by a bee!! in the garden but help was at hand as Roger appeared with some antihistamine cream, Problem solved! The Haytor is the Perfect place for a relaxing break or holiday, we cant wait to return there again next year. This Hotel is the Perfect location to see Torquay only a few minutes walk to the town centre,Bars & Restaurant .Many thanks to Roger Peter for our perfect stay.Love to the girls coco & maisy moo xxx

Had another great time at the Haytor Hotel, new owners but no change in the great level of service. Hotel remains beautiful very classy, rooms perfectly clean lovely fluffy bath towels perfect white bed linen - the best nights sleep ever! Goregous gardens and surroundings. Breakfast lovely and the breakfast lady Jean great too. My husbands shirt got accidentally spilt on by a waiter at a local gastro pub the stain was quiet bad but the owners were great as soon as we got back to the Haytor we asked for help they washed it and thankfully the stain came out. Another way of how the owners are so caring and to can tell they love and enjoy being hoteliers. Excellent stay thank you so much. This place deserves a gold trip advisor medal. We will be back xxxx

As someone with over 40 years experience in the hospitality industry I am full of praise for The Haytor after spending 4 days last week at the Hotel. Could not fault my stay. Room 1 perfect for my husband who is awaiting a hip operation. Owners very friendly and helpful but not overpowering. Breakfast one of the best I have had. Dinning room very attractive. Special mention to Jean (memory woman) location very good. If you don't like the hill get a taxi. We did and paid average of £4.00 excellent value. Don't change a thing it's perfect !

Room Tip: Room 1 perfect for guests with walking problems.

After a 4 hr search I found this hotel after a cancellation. What a find. Drove up to it and looked lovely and clean, with a lovely terrace outside.
After checking in, taken to a lovely double room which said on the website small but it was ample for us. Everything you could think of was in the room and the staff was very helpful. Breakfast was lovely. Full English plus cereals etc.
Would definatly recommend to family and friends and anyone!

We stayed at the Haytor for two nights last week and have to say after staying in Torquay and Paignton previously, this hotel beat them all by miles! The staff are friendly the rooms are immaculate and the hotel in general is outstanding! If you like a nice quiet setting just off from the town centre it's perfect. Also there is a fantastic steak house cotton eye joes about 400 yards away which just put the icing on the cake. Absolutely would stay there again :-) mrs and mrs hill of Cumbria

Just got back from a three night stay will deal with the bits that will help people to make better choices and save the best for last.

1. room 12 double £ 89.00 per night lots of stairs 34 steps so if a problem choice lower rooms.

2.facing quite busy road ill fitting sash windows, wood does move so if light sleeper a few drinks or ear plugs will help.

3.If you want to try out a good restaurant I would recommend booking up in advance we had no luck with one's in the top 25!

Nothing major just a couple of helpful tips

Now on to the nice bit owners roger and peter lovely.
Roger very helpful with lots of info and helpful advice and a good cook, breakfast lovely.
Jean who services the breakfast is so efficient she is a super star
Sue does the rooms which are tidy and very clean and helps out at breakfast.
Our room was cosy and décor very nice and a good view, we could see the sea and the wheel.
Tea & coffee in room with biscuits and two bottles of water each day a really nice touch
The hotel is beautifully decorated inside and out a pleasure to stay in a lovely boutique hotel .
Only a short walk to the town just a bit of a climb back up but that's Torquay for you .
Over all a excellent break away in a very relaxing environment .

Room Tip: higher rooms looks of steps
