“The loveliest stay in a hotel I've ever experienced- with lovely hosts, a gorgeous setting and superb hotel rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2012 via mobile

I've stayed in a number of Torquay hotels and this was my first stay at the Meadfoot Bay Hotel. I cannot believe some of the reviews I've read having stayed here as I was stunned by the loveliness! I was greeted by the charming hoteliers and welcomed into their beautiful hotel which looks wonderful on their website video but even more wonderful in reality. The rooms at the Meadfoot Bay Hotel are extremely well maintained, impeccably clean, and the breakfast was delightful- freshly cooked to order which is rare for a hotel, and much appreciated! The hotel is situated in a very pretty location, minutes from a gorgeous beach with a cafe, and close to town and the evening vibes of Torquay. I enjoyed every minute of my stay, felt very well looked after, and will definitely be returning next year!

We booked the Meadfoot after looking at their details on this site and really liked the look of it, and we were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived, it was attention to detail. We were greeted by caroline who offered tea in one of the beautifully decorated reception rooms and were left to relax and to check in at our leisure.

We had booked the ground floor superior room and it was lovely. Decorated to a very high standard with everything that we needed; iron with proper ironing board, decent hairdryer (not the usual travel size ones!), flat screen on the wall, fabulous!

The bathroom was brilliant: very modern, lovely big shower and all the luxury toiletries we could want. We even had bathrobes available to use. Pure luxury. There was even a complimentary drink waiting in our room, compliments of gary's bar.

The welcome at the bar from Gary, again, was very friendly. Gary recommended a restaurant that did fab steaks and did not disappoint. We had such a fab relaxing two nights that on our second day we asked if there were any rooms available to stay a third night. Unfortunately we could not stay in our room but Chris offered us the Wentworth, which was just as lovely. again decorated to a very high standard.

I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel. Chris, Caroline and Gary were so accommodating and made our stay very enjoyable.

We made a last-minute booking for two nights and could not have been more pleased with the result. The hotel is in a gracious old house that the owners have restored; the reception rooms are decorated in a style contemporaneous with the building's age, but the guest rooms have been done up in sleep, contemporary style that meshes nicely with the old. Beyond the style, there's the service. Gary greeted us with hot tea and biscuits and recommended several places for our dinner. Though we did not opt for breakfast (WAY too much eating on this trip), the breakfast buffet was a wonder to behold.

All in all, a terrific weekend -- comfy bed, gorgeous bathroom with spectacular fittings, and all in a lovely setting, walking distance to the beach and the lively heart of Torquay. Be sure to do the coastal walk from the beach along the bluffs behind the hotel.

We had looked at a lot of hotels in Torquay on the website and decided on the Meadfoot Bay hotel and it turned out to be a very good choice. We had a standard room the decoration was very nice and it was very clean the room lead out to a lovely terrace with views.
Breakfast was extra but the food was excellent with a good choice, the walk into town was ok considering the hills around Torquay I would definitely recommend this hotel

We have stayed at the Meadfoot Bay Hotel on many occasions, and our most recent visit was June 2012. The welcome we received form Chris, Caroline and Gary couldn't have been better, their attention to detail makes sure your stay is one to fondly remember always.
The Hotel is maintained to a very high standard, the rooms are tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable, and the superb breakfasts are not to be missed.
We are looking forward to visiting again soon.
