The hotel was very clean and cosy, the staff were very welcoming and also very accommodating as well as quite slick in serving the meals. My wife and I stayed on a 4 day coach trip for our wedding anniversary and were very happy with all aspects of the hotel, including the lovely food. The bar was also comfortable and the drink prices quite good. The rooms and en-suite bathrooms were also very clean too. We would definately go back to stay there and recommend it to anyone.

Not having been on a Caoch Holiday previously, we embarked upon this one with some trepidation, at a time in in early February when we really needed a break!
Have travelled widely in the UK and abroad and not always found such value and pleasure in a Holiday. Though coldish throughout in the area, it was always bright - and never wet!
The Holiday did not start at all well, with the Coach pick up up being 2 hours late on a bitter cold morning, and then a little later, en route, having another 2 hours of our Holiday, wasted on a Motorway Services Station Car Park in the Midlands, waiting for other pasengers to join us. Little or no information, never mind an apology, was willingly forthcoming from the Coach Company involved.
However we were most pleasantly surprised by the welcomeing arrival at the Hotel at the end of a tiring day's journey
The Hotel, being entirely a family run set up, was most enjoyable throughout our stay, with good attenmtion and service in all respects. Their method of forward planning/ordering of meals worked well, and, adding to the varied and well prepared menu, made for a most enjoyable stay. Have since recommended this Hotel to others who wish to travelk down there to enjoy the sort of service and attention which one pays much more for in many, many other Hotels.
Would go back there again any time.

Just got back from a restful stay in the Ashley rise hotel,we booked a four day stay with a well known tour operator. On arriving at the hotel we were a bit apprehensive because it looks a bit dated on first impressions. But our room was very clean maybe on the small side but quite adequate for our needs. All the normal items like hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities, shower gel and soap etc.The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. The meal times are set in stone and breakfast is served for eveyone at 8.30 there is a choice of full english breakfasts and a lot of other things to choose from but also a vegetarian option and plenty to eat.I would advise anyone in a group to get in the queue early so you do not get split up,because on the first day the table you choose is the one you get for every meal.We were last in the queue and had to go where there was a space. We asked to be put together and later on some tables were moved to accomadate us.The evening meals were nice with a choice of three starters, three mains and three desserts, also with vegetarian option, evening meals are served at 6.30 on the dot.On the Friday and Saturday night there was entertainment in the hotel which was nice. For anyone with limited mobility there are flights of stairs to climb to the rooms and quite steep so please take this into consideration before booking as there is no lift.A short walk from the hotel is a tesco so if you need to stock up on sandwiches and drinks for your journey home this is the place to do it.The model village is about 3 minutes walk away and worth the visit, you can pay an extra £1 to see the 4D film which was brilliant with all the effects. There is a little shopping centre about 5 mins away charity shops cafes and lots more.A bus stop to Torquay,Brixham and many more places is located outside the hotel.Brixham is a must see with the lovely harbour, shops and restaurants. You can catch the bus to the well Known Torquay hotel which has been on the television,we did and met all the characters who were only too pleased to have their photo taken with us.You can call in the hotel and just have a drink no need to book a meal to go in and see the now well known characters. If you want to stay close to the Ashley Rise hotel there are lots of pubs along the front near the beach with lovely views of the sea. Many of the pubs do meals and Sunday carverys if you fancy a change from the hotel food. Also a great fish and chip shop down the road that open Sundays now that is bliss. If you walk down to the beach just remember you have to walk back up now thats a work out. There is a cable car that you can take down, the beach is small but there are some nice cafes down there to sit and drink and take in the lovely views of the sea.All in all i would definitely go back to the Ashley Rise but if i never do i will always have fond memories of my time there.Go you will fall in love with place and the people.

Stayed 27th February to 2nd March. Very good value for money. Don't expect 5* accommodation at 2* price. Dinner at 6-30 is too early for us and food-wise there isn't a great selection, but that's how the cost is kept down. If you want somewhere cheap, cheerful and clean go for it.

My wife and I stayed at The Ashley Rise between 20th February and the 24th February 2012
and the stay was most enjoyable .
The hotel was very clean and the staff were really helpful , polite andf friendly .. The waiting on staff including the youngsters already mentioned by others were very sincere , friendly and efficient.
With Bed , Breakfast and Evening meal at around £20 a head , how do they do it ?

The breakfast was most appealing and well presented .

The evening meals were simple , tasty and satisfying. we enjoyed all four without exception.

Well done Ashley Rise !!!
