“Ooops The view is free”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Our first visit to this venue the café restaurant which forms part of the main hotel which in itself looked very spick and span, and I must say I was somewhat impressed. The first thing noticeable is its fresh clean state of decorating and nice bright lighting. With good tables and seating not too close together. following my usual practise of checking out the toilets I am pleased to report full marks absolutely spotless and an indication of the state of the kitchens. There was an attractive display of Biscuits, Cakes, Scones etc. and a purposeful looking coffee machine which probably accounts for the excellent cups yes cups of coffee I had. The other members of my party ordered cooked breakfasts which was quickly served and looked fresh cooked and very appetising judging from the clean plates was enjoyed by all. Prices are on Par with most other similar type of businesses After all don' t expect Owt for Nowt The staff were very pleasant and welcoming .There is plenty of free parking within a few minutes walk this however may get a little difficult in high summer. The location is most attractive having the large grassed area across the road and then overlooking Babbacombe Bay and towards Lyme Bay making this on a clear day one of Devons finest Views. Do I recommend a visit YES undoubtedly. Will I return most certainly. ANY criticism I have had better scones I found these too fine not crumbly enough compared to our usual café .

Two of us stayed here in the deluxe double room with sea view on 5th to 7th December and found it to be a delight. The room was spacious and clean as was the shower room / toilet. The cafe / restaurant was impeccable as were the rest of the public areas I saw and the staff that I met were polite and responsive. The only food I ate at the hotel was breakfast which was excellent.

All in all I found the experience of staying here very satisfactory and would readily stay here again the future (although I might indulge myself even more by taking the suite next time).

Be careful if your mobility is limited though as there are a lot of stairs between the roadside and the rooftop terrace!

Room Tip: Indulge yourself with a sea view suite.

Everything about this hotel is clean and modern. We booked a room with a sea view which was definitely worth it. The evening meal in the restaurant was one of the best I've had for a long time and the waiters were excellent. The only downside was that if you're staying on a Sunday night, the restaurant is closed and no refreshments are available. A lovely roof top terrace which even in November was worth sitting out on to enjoy the views.

At last someone has taken over what used to be a very dreary B&B called the Regency Hotel and transformed it into a beautiful, tasteful and elegant venue. It not only boasts some luxurious boutique style bedrooms, but a gorgeous continental style cafe and patisserie. The staff are well trained and well presented. The food is good and the prices are fair. All this plus the unique views over Lyme Bay. A worthy addition to an upcoming Torquay!

me and my husband stayed here for 2 nights for our anniversary, a lovely hotel, stunning rooms standards were really high, the staff were really friendly and made you feel welcome and nothing was to much trouble, we also had a evening meal and the food was fantastic, the breakfast in the morning was lovely, the best breakfast I've had in a long time. Really enjoyed my stay here, the only thing was no parking, there is a Car park at the back but is 24 hour and quite expensive

Many thanks for your kind words.
We are delighted you enjoyed your time with us.
We did compromise on the parking so we could have our beautiful terrace out the front. With free on road parking all around the hotel we felt it was worth it.
We hope this did not impact too much on your stay with us.
We hope to see you again soon.
Kind regards
Marion

A fab location and the interior is also on the money the cakes and food are a good bet. Thats the good bits. Maybe consider music for a little more atmosphere. The staff are up and down the assistant manager a young girl is at the top of her game. Please give the others some training. I attend often as i am local it just needs some polish and it could easily be 5* maybe some barista training on coffee too cold coffee is not so great.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review.
We take on board your comments.
We do have regular training for our staff and have a very good Barista trainer who comes in regularly to check our machine and help the staff.
If the music is not on please do say to our staff as this is more than likely an oversite.
We do hope to see you again soon and give you better service and ambience.
Kind regards
Marion

We bought a groupon voucher for an evening meal at this hotel and decided it would be nice to stay over. My partner spent quite a lot on this treat and we were a bit miffed to find a deal shortly after on groupon for a 2 night stay at the same price! Anyway, the hotel is situated in a lovely location and is furnished to a high standard. Our suite was spacious and had all the little extras you would expect. Our main gripe was the temperature, it is very mild more for November but the hotel was like a sauna. We had the windows open but just couldn't cool down, the duvet was a thick winter weight and we both couldn't sleep. We are not the type to complain but it did affect our enjoyment of the experience. The cafe bistro was also very warm. The waiter Patrick was excellent and we had a lovely meal. The breakfast was also very good. We probably wouldn't stay here again as for the price we could stay at an equally good hotel with the convenience of hotel parking.

Room Tip: Our room was on the ground floor so we had noise of passersby and overlooked pub, worth paying for s...

I was sorry to hear you found the hotel too warm. As you said it has been a mild November. All the radiators in our rooms are individually controlled so you can turn them off. We do also provide fans in each room. Unfortunately air conditioning in our building is not an option.
The groupon deal for accommodation was for a two night stay on set days and in classic rooms. There are no suites available on this deal and does not coincide with the evening offer.
We take on board all your comments and thank you for taking the time to give us a review.
Kind regards
