My wife and I are regular visitors to Torquay and along with Hanburys (the best place for fish and chips) and The Orange Tree we always head to the Marina restaurant for the Sunday lunch carvery. Never been disappointed and this occasion was no different.
Welcoming and attentive, although the three waitresses need to slow down instead of rushing around and we did not need to be asked by each of them if we wanted a desert! That aside the place is spacious, clean and a good feature perhaps is they have got the right balance to accommodate a young family and like us who have reached an age that look for a more family free zone. Has anyone mentioned the location?
The buffet style setting with roasts that look and taste fresh are well presented and the generous portions are cut to order in front of you by the owner. Help yourself to the fresh vegetables that are offered firm not soft, roast potatoes and Yorkshire puds. The stuffing balls are not my favourite as they are always overdone and dry.
If you like your drinks on draught then you find the range disappointing but if wine is your thing then there is a wide choice and the house wine by the glass is good. Overall the cost for drinks is more pub prices than restaurant.
If travelling by car then good luck with trying to find a parking space adjacent to the restaurant. A better option is the large indoor car park across the road a 2min walk.
For £9.95 in a restaurant setting the carvery is excellent value.
