Owner description: Since its foundation in 1196, Torre Abbey has witnessed, survived and even played a role in some epic moments of history. It is one of the best buildings in the country to tell the story of 800 years of Catholicism between 1196 and 1930. This museum uses a clever mix of authentic artefacts with hi-tech interpretation. From talking portraits and statues to interactive displays and one of the largest fine art collections in the South West, there really is something for everyone. Follow the garden trails or pick up a family guide or Experts' Choice to discover many hidden mysteries. With a wealth of exotic plants, the gardens are a tranquil haven of beauty and pleasure and the perfect setting in which to relax, stroll or picnic. Children can explore the garden and bring the Abbey to life using our special discovery backpacks. Browse our shop stocked with a range of souvenirs, gifts and books or sit down and enjoy a selection of drinks, snacks and light meals in the tearooms. The house, Spanish Barn and Palm House are licensed for civil weddings, partnership ceremonies and christenings. Torre Abbey can also cater for functions, corporate hospitality or training events. A varied programme of events takes place at Torre Abbey throughout the year. Tours of the house are available out of hours to groups of 30 or more. Following the recent restoration project, the Abbey now boasts a new educational suite which provides opportunities for students of all ages to get involved and explore the Abbey's history.

“Pitch and Putt underwhelming”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

Visited here as a group on deal, the deal was 18 holes for the price of 9 but when we arrived it said during the off season you could pay for 9 holes and go round as much as you liked, so in reality the group on saved us nothing. Anyway, the course was quite waterlogged, one of the clubs played very poorly, the other way fine, the holes were short and not particularly challenging. It'd be OK for younger golfers but not for a group of grown ups.

In my opinion the photos present that place better and more attractive but it is not. It is a nice walk in the garden to spend time instead of drinking coffee!!!

Pretty good, but it is currently closed until this summer. It is currently undergoing a restoration. It's a walking distance from the beach and King's Garden.

The sheer history of it all - Heritage is the word, it belongs to all of us. Building work at present, a Kier contractor said we are securing it for another 100 years - fantastic
