just spent a week at the hotel and it is in the throes of being refurbished and up graded, the rooms that have been done look good but they need to do more to to attract a more discerning clientele. The food is just awful in fact school dinners were better, they need to employ a proper chef if they wish to take the hotel to a higher level and train their staff in service and hospitality ,at times it was as if they were doing us a favour by serving us .Beautiful setting on the babbacombe downs if the upgrading is done right this hotel has the potential to be a winner

Stayed at this hotel on a holiday with Just Go
The hotel is undergoing extensive refurbishment but this
didn't interfere with our holiday.
Our room was large and well decorated with a view over the
Channel.
The bathroom room had a large walkin shower and was well decorated.
The staff were very polite and efficient
The food was adequate and what one could expect for a 2 star hotel.
Once the refurbishment is completed the hotel will be 3 star
All in all a good hotel

Room Tip: Get a room at the front second floor

I was here last weekend Friday to Monday with the Bristol Jive Club for an Elvis weekend. We had been here last year with the same people for rock and roll so had a good idea what to expect. I looked at their web page beforehand just to see if there were any changes to the hotel and noticed that it was going through a refurb so was a bit wary of what to expect. I needn't have worried. The only mess I saw was the front that was having work done and therefore out of use. Which was a shame. We loved sitting there last year with our coffee and looking over at the sea. But it wasn't a major problem. We had a room that hadn't yet been refurbished but it was very acceptable, clean and quite roomy. The restaurant is a good size on the front of the hotel with self service cereal and orange juice. The rest of breakfast was bought to the table by our waiter Neal or Neil(not sure of spelling). A very nice polite man who was most helpful and courteous. Evening meal was also bought to the table by Neal along with hot dessert and tea or coffee. If you wanted a cold dessert, you helped yourself. There was plenty of choice and it was mostly very nice and flavourful apart from the spaghetti Bolognese(which I didn't have) which looked a bit dry but the rest of it was very nice especially the fish on Friday night. We had a lovely stay there with no complaints and we hope to go back next year providing they don't put up their prices too much to pay for the refurb by which time we hope they will have put a new battery in the clock.:)

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room on the front.

Music as always good and the atmosphere great.
The hotel is under new management and it is undergoing refurbishment, what we can see is really good. The rooms not done yet are clean and warm.
The food is average 'coach' standard.
The staff are friendly and the service is good.

Currently undergoing extensive refurb by the new owners who run the Lincombe Manor Hotel, which is top notch I have to say. Attended a Country music weekend there and although technically a two star we had no complaints. Food was fine, room was tired as you'd expect but all will be altered shortly. Parking could be problematic so if you get a spot, leave your motor there and use Shank's Pony. A great view over the bay and the landslip.

Recently enjoyed an AGM weekend for the Royal Naval Communications Association at the (previously known as) Sefton Hotel, now called the 'Babbacombe' Hotel.
A huge refurb is taking place, but surprisingly the staff made the works almost un-noticeable.
The room was large enough with a fantastic view. Although there was a central heating radiator, another electric heater had been placed in the room just in case. The bed was soft and very comfortable, and the bathroom spacious enough with a walk in shower.
The food was very good and delivered to our table hot. The waiter was very efficient, courteous and always had a smile.
Cooked breakfast portions are not large, and there is one 'special' different ingredient added every day. However the self service included enough toast, pastries fruit and yoghurt to keep the hungriest guest happy. Coffee and tea were reasonable.
Overall a very good weekend in a hotel that will only get better as the works complete.
