“Good all round eating experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

We have been going to this restaurant for roughly about 3 -4 times a years now for a good few years, either with my partner or family and each time we go we are always greeted with a smile, if ther's not any tables availble you can always wait in the bar area and wait to be called and i have never waited longer than the expected time we were told we may have to wait.
The food is good not excellent but good value for money and it has always been on a hot plate plus you can eat as much salad as you want and the staff are friendly.
The only criticism i'd make is that (i know its not important) but i've always had to fold up a bit of card or serviette to prop up the table legs as they are always wobbly, enough to make you drink splash, especially when ther's four of you, its only a minor thing, it maybe i'v been unlucky. Overall its a nice pleasent place to eat.

“Cannot recommend more”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013 via mobile

We picked here for our Valentine's evening meal - And was told we'd have to wait up to twenty mins but was seated within five. While waiting at the bar, we were able to set up a tab easily and was served by a bubbly bar maid. Our waitress when seated was very accomodating. The all you can eat salad was fresh and full - unlike other establishments. Our food was served piping hot and was too much to eat after a few drinks! The meal was great value for not much money. The ambience was lovely. Cannot stress enough how lovely the staff were, I've paid three times more and received half the good- but not forced hospitality! I will be back :-)

“Lovely food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

We had a lovely lunch here which was gorgeous, wonderful food and yummy puddings, but the HUGE downside is that you can not book a table, you just have to turn up and hope for the best. We have not once managed to eat here in the evening, we have tried to many times, but we have been told that we will have to wait an awful long time and we have not really wanted to stand and wait for a free table - we have tried at different times of the evening, early, late, but nothing has worked - last time we were told that there would be a 3/4 hour wait and you just have to stand.

“Another poor experiencevat the harvester plympton plymouth”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013 via mobile

Having eaten in many havester establishments whilst working away we decided to try our local harvester at plympton plymouth, our first experience was about 2 years ago. Creditvwhere it is due this as my normal experience, good food, large portions, good service and good value.
After our good experience we decided tovre visit about 10 months later, the experience was no so good, slow, poor, service. Overlooking this we had a birthday celbration comming up in feb 2013 so we decided to celebrate at the Harvester. I went with 3 other adults an 2 minors between 8 and 15.
Now for the problems.

1. The service was very slow
2. No ever asked if we enjoyed the meal, or if everything was ok during the meal
3. It was very hard to get the attention of a waiter / waitress when you required one however in their defence they apeared to be over run.
4. My 8 year old ordered pork sassuges and mash, he did not eat his meal when we asked why we found out that he had been given cumberland sassuges, very strog tasting and not what he had expected.
5. Our dirty salad bowls and cutlery did not get cleared from the table until the end of the meal even thoe we had stacked them neatly at the end of the table with the cuttlery.
6. We had to ask 3 times to 3 different waiting persons for some additinoal cuttlery as we had used some on the salad. At this time our meals were sat on the table getting cold.
7. My eldest son requested mayo with his chicken burger meal, he got chilli sauce, thats a big difference.
8. My prevouse visits having a starter, main and desert you knew that you had eaten a meal at the end, in other words you felt stuffed. I found that all portions were much smaller, i had gammon and it looked like the gammon had been cut in half i must say that i have had more gammon included in a mixed grill elsewhere.
9. The fries were dry and few in number.
10. The ice cream desert was very poor in comparision to previouse ones eaten. We went for the chocolate one. Normaly this is full of minitture chocolate bites like Twirls etc. in ours we found some crumbled chocolate near the bottom, not quit the experience we thought.
11. We were not offered anymore drinks whilst we were there, poor practice that must cost them a fortune.

I dont know if harvester staff or managers read this ? I hope they do, in my opinion the staff were over run the looked very busy, the resturant was not full. I am pleased it was not or the experience may have been worse.
I shall not return to the harvester untill i see the reviwes improve and here that the food is in a reasonable portion again. Complaine ? No i did not as i did mot want to spoil the occasion anymore.

Thank you for reading
