Owner description: Undisturbed Burrator is surrounded by mixed woodland which sharply contrasts with the open moor and rugged Dartmoor tors. The reservoir is popular with walkers, cyclists and horse riders due to its wealth of footpaths and bridleways. Many of the trails lead on to Dartmoor so it makes an ideal starting point for longer trips. The circular walk which follows the lanes around the water is ideal for families as it is easy going and flat. It will take between 1.5 - 2 hours to complete and is approximately 3.5 miles. Parking is possible at various locations including the Quarry car park, Norsworthy Bridge and the Dam.Low cost bank fishing for both rainbow and brown trout is available at this scenic water; permits are sold at the garage in Yelverton.Being within Dartmoor National Park we kindly request that you drive and park with consideration to other users and animals. The National Cycle Route 27 runs near to Burrator further information is available on the sustrans websiteIce cream vans visit the dam, Norsworthy Bridge and Sharpitor car park.

“Peaceful beauty”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

Visited after reading reviews on here. Spent a lovely afternoon walking with my family and dog. Beautiful, peaceful place. One thing I found odd was that there were no bins anywhere so I ended up carrying my dogs number twos around with me for over two hours! Other than that a great day out

“Wonderful views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013

We always enjoy walking completely around the reservoir, there are plenty of places to rest and with a picnic makes a lovely day out with, especially for those who are energetic walkers. Take your own refreshments and switch of from the pressures of everyday life.

“Fresh air and exercise .”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

Burrator is almost in the heart of Dartmoor . A good size reservoir with a quiet road all the way round it. There is a bus service on a Sunday ( 48 ) at time of writing. There are several parking areas around the edge of the reservoir . Take a stroll or ride your bike around the edge and see the views , ponies , birds etc . A short walk uphill on the sides are several Tors with views to Plymouth and the sea beyond or inland across the spectacular views of the Moors. There are some small tracks that you can drive up to get a bit more height for those with a little less agility.
