Owner description: Undisturbed Burrator is surrounded by mixed woodland which sharply contrasts with the open moor and rugged Dartmoor tors. The reservoir is popular with walkers, cyclists and horse riders due to its wealth of footpaths and bridleways. Many of the trails lead on to Dartmoor so it makes an ideal starting point for longer trips. The circular walk which follows the lanes around the water is ideal for families as it is easy going and flat. It will take between 1.5 - 2 hours to complete and is approximately 3.5 miles. Parking is possible at various locations including the Quarry car park, Norsworthy Bridge and the Dam.Low cost bank fishing for both rainbow and brown trout is available at this scenic water; permits are sold at the garage in Yelverton.Being within Dartmoor National Park we kindly request that you drive and park with consideration to other users and animals. The National Cycle Route 27 runs near to Burrator further information is available on the sustrans websiteIce cream vans visit the dam, Norsworthy Bridge and Sharpitor car park.

“Great for peace & quiet, walking, running or cycling.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2012

We found this tranquil spot by chance. We took a walk round the 4 miles of path & road around the reservoir edge & found it great to unwind. Many people were walking, cycling, & running around the road. We only saw 3 cars in about 3 hours walking around, so great if you have kids or dogs.
Plenty of places to sit or take a picnic.
We came back the next day & used the road as a training run for our next 1/2 marathon & it was great.
Views were also fantastic.

A fantastic day out just a short drive from Plymouth. Its got the lot great walks up and around the Torrs babling streams for kids and dogs, wonderful views and the reservoir itself forming a beautiful lake best seen from the tops of the torrs.

“Wow!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2012

Amazing place.
Such a great place to visit. you can walk, sit, cycle.
A great place for the whole family.
Shame about the inconsiderate dog owners that leave piles of dog poo on paths..... Thanks for that!
