I was staying in room 32A, a large room on the SE corner of the hotel by the road junction.
During the evening of Friday 29th March 2013 as from about 10pm I suffered the terrible volume of noise of a live band playing at the Thistle Pub opposite. This went on until 1am Saturday morning. During this time I went down to the reception to complain about both the level of noise and the duration that it had gone on for. The reception staff were all too well aware of the problem. Apparently the pub keep the doors open so that the smokers outside can hear the music....Yes, the staff were deadly serious!
Shortly after 5:30am that same morning that i had eventually managed to fall asleep, about 1:30am, after the Thistle Pub band episode, I was rudely awoken by the noise of a large lorry which had parked up directly below my room, and which was very noisily delivering several clanking cages of linen into the hotel.
Firstly whilst I can accept that Premier Inn have no direct control over the matter of the Thistle Pub, i do think that they should complain to the local council seeking a noise abatement order, as the level of the music was most unacceptable. Leaving the doors open for the smokers is just ridiculous! Surely this would also cause the ingress of smoke into their premises, thus breaching the Non-smoking laws? Also Premier have a duty to their customers to explain the likely consequences in staying in their room 32A.
Secondly Premier offer a guaranteed good night's sleep. Clearly this does not apply to room 32A; as the fact that the regular early morning laundry delivery, at about 5:30am is under their direct control; which means that they could or should do something about it: Again Premier have a duty to their customers to explain the likely consequences in staying in their room 32A.
I have concurrently written to Premier Inn to explain my concerns and welcome their response.
