The hotel was clean and spacious, however music went on till the early hours of the morning every night and the area that the hotel was based is less than pretty and safe to walk around in at night. Situated in the middle of a massive council estate with the police station opposite and a barbed wire fence surrounding the hotel we were quite shocked on how different it was compared to the picture. The meals where very expensive for the amount that they gave you but tasty.
Overall i think that for £70 per night it is a little disappointing and will not be visiting the hotel again.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel.I wish I had read review's first. This hotel is the worst we have been to,I have worked all over the world and I've stayed in better bed and breakfast's.This is what it should be called not a hotel. In fact it would give good bed and breakfast' a bad name.
The room was large but window did not close and could hear shipyard tannoy from room, also very cold as turned heating on whenever they felt like it.Room was above bar and music was very very loud, went on till 12.30.The room was a family room with two bunk bed's in cupboard size room,so if had children with us the noise was appaling.and kid's would have been awake all night.
When first got there four sachet's of coffee asked for some more was given one more.We went for a drink in bar afte evening out and was told bar was closed at 11O'clock.After cold ight went to breakfast which was a nice full English, next morning got what can only be described as overcooked and cold. The service was terrible. There was sick on stair's when we went to bed and was till there the next morning.
I would not recomend this PLACE to anyone and picture's on web site very misleading.Mr Unhappy

What a disgrace!!! How could this place call itself a hotel!!! The rooms were dirty and smelling of dry rot. Someone had been sick on the stairs during the night and it was not cleaned up when we went down for breakfast!!! I have travelled the world in the navy and NEVER been to a more disgusting hotel!!!

“Oh My God!”

Royal Fleet Club

What a hovel. Have never stayed in a place like it, and will never do so again. Owner obviously has the place sussed as we were asked to pay total amout up front - there were 4 adults and 2 kids so quite a lot to pay - and we stupidly paid before seeing the rooms. I have travelled a bit and stayed in loads of hotels - none of them five star but I do have standards - oh god the rooms - more like a hostel than a hotel and not cheap. Bunk beds in a cupboard for the kids in a family room - window did not close - telly did not work. Were given 2 towels per room and had to asked a few times before getting one each! Were not allowed into bar on first night as private function and on second night a crowd of really rowdy guys swearing and shouting, so would not have wanted to go in anyway. Checked out after one night and booked Quality Inn - cheaper and in a different league - clean, tidy and did what it said on the tin - clean family rooms and bar that was family friendly and open.

The good points about the Fleet Club - the location near the Torpoint Ferry as we were down there for passing out parade and the girl Kelly on reception - she was lovely and very helpful.

Could not recommend this hotel at all - rough area and quite a distance to any shops, bars etc.

“Food Great... Nothing Else!”

On arrival for a reunion found 20+ friends in lounge bar ... we had to wait for the one member of staff... full of apologies checking everybody in aswell as attempting to serve us in a bar that wasn't commissioned, she had to dispence drinks from an adjacent bar.
On arriving at our room no.44, found economy carpet tiles with stains, a grease smear on the window a lumpy bed with well worn linen, a small television with no remote... the aerial was held together with an elastic band.
In the shower room, there was no bath, the towels were threadbare not one the size of a bath towel, there was mould around the seal at the base of the shower, the lino on the floor looked like something from the fifties and there was no vanity shelf by the sink.... it was above the toilet yuk!
I agree with another client that the surrounding area of this 'hostel' left a lot to be desired, nowhere locally to have lunch after a long journey.
Back in my day, in the 60s we had a Fleet, now we only have a few ships, Plymouth, or should I say Devonport is sadly rundown... on approaching by taxi from the station I thought I was entering East Berlin....... Perhaps we no longer need a FLEET CLUB
