“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2014

Stayed in the hotel for 1 night. Superb location right near the hoe. Staff were great. Carried my bike in for me ( not light) and put them somewhere secure. Room was fine, spacious, clean etc. The rooms were noisy though, could hear plumbing and talking etc. Breakfast was included though the breakfast room let it down. Down in the basement- noisy, school canteen feel. Shame the refurbishment could not have included a nice breakfast room. Overall though was good value for the location.

We stayed for 3 days whilst visiting friends in Devon. Reception staff were friendly and helpful, the public rooms clean and fresh, comfortable and well furnished.Bedrooms were very clean and comfortable, and the bed and linen you will be soon asleep. Good choice for breakfast fresh fruit salad, greek yoghurt, normal cereals, and sizeable cooked breakfast. Another plus factor is that the owners did not use the bank holiday as an excuse for bumping up the rates. Nice little bar, with 2/3 lounges, prices easily compares with pubs, and the fact that if need be you could bring in a take away, and cutlery would be provided if required. It is just a pity that some guests do not treat the hotel's rules and regulations, and fellow guests with respect by smoking in the bedrooms. All in all we would definitely stay here again, and have no hesitation in recommending it to family and friends.

Room Tip: Upgrade to Superior, but all rooms are clean, tidy and comfortable

This hotel has a very pleasant exterior and is well presented inside. The paint work on doors and architraves is beautiful! The room was well equipped and comfortable, though a bit tight. Wardrobe and chest of drawers provided, but as a one night visitor, a luggage rack would have been preferable. Breakfast was included...delicious. Great location, short walk to the lighthouse, public spaces near the water front and the city centre. Hotel only has 6 parking spots but the will give you a parking ticket for £3 for street parking.

We were one night at this hotel .It has an excellent location location close to the Hoe. Rooms are comfortable and service considerate and helpful . Breakfast quality was good though provided in a rather cramped basement restaurant area . Parking spaces provided by the hotel are limited which led to a need to feed a meter in the street outside . A pleasant stay though and we would recommend this hotel to others who need a quiet well sited place to stay close by the centre of the city .

A very well presented hotel in a really good location for the Hoe, theatre, pavilions and city centre. Lovely decor and friendly helpful staff. Will definitely stay again. Very limited parking, if you have to park on roadside obtain a day pass from reception before buying your ticket!

We stayed two nights at the Grosvenor Plymouth...a modern reflection of a bygone era! The building has undergone a significant "overhaul" and is exceptionally clean, well presented with a dedicated staff who diligently attend to their guests requirements. We occupied one of the Penthouse Rooms on the top floor (5 flights of stairs) which was very quiet, well appointed, had a good bed and very spacious. The climb up the stairs gave us a very good indicator as to our fitness level (or lack thereof), and this should be considered by guests when making their booking.

All the rooms have windows that open to allow fresh air in but the airflow is restricted by their size and position, which causes the room to become warm and stuffy. Installing Air Conditioning will be expensive, so I recommend 12" fans be strategically positioned in close proximity to the windows to draw in the cool air.

Breakfast is served in the Grove and is balanced, high quality and fresh. The menu caters to to all breakfast needs with hot meals cooked fresh and served nice an hot! The Table Staff are efficient, courteous and attentive. The only advice / request I have is to increase the plate size. The portions are perfect, however corralling the baked beans on the the plate becomes an interesting exercise in food management.

Would I stay here again...of course! It's a GREAT place to stay!!

Room Tip: Guests with restricted mobility should request rooms on lower levels as there is no lift access.

We only had one night in Plymouth, and booked the Grosvenor over the internet. What a surprise when we arrived. Young helpful staff who couldn't have been more friendly, eager to help, even carrying our suitcases up two flights of stairs. This hotel has been completely renovated and is to be congratulated. The decoration is modern, but in keeping with period the hotel was built. Rooms are well appointed, I would prefer a queen sized double bed, but I'm one who likes to spread out.. The location of the hotel, right near the Hoe is perfect. WFI is excellent and onsite car parking is available. Breakfast in the basement diningroom was a delight.
