This hotel looks very good from the outside and the lobby area and bar are fine, with a certain amount of olde worlde charm. I have stayed two or three times and have never had a satisfactory room - either too small or with two single beds instead of a double. The decor seems old and faded though this could be a "period" restoration and the bathrooms seem to come in all sorts of strange colours and configurations - shower without bath, bath with only hand-held shower. The lift is tiny and asthmatic and the car park is very small - check in early and leave your car if you do stay here.
I have only had the breakfast here which was very nice and a good start to the day.
I paid GBP65 per night on a corporate rate and thought that was too expensive and now stay in a Travel Inn instead and save another tenner or so.
This hotel is architecturally interesting enough that it could be a really cool place if someone was prepared to put the effort in to renovate it properly.
