“Great for exploring the area.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013 via mobile

This was our first stay at Traine Farm and we would recommend it to anyone. We stayed for a week with our two children (aged 10 & 13) and always found something to do. Clowberry Cottage was everything we needed and very clean and well equipped with free WiFi. Sheila and Robert were friendly hosts and my daughter particularly loved the ponies (& pony ride) and helping Robert collect the hens eggs! It was lovely to be able to allow the children freedom to explore on their own in safe and quiet surroundings. The games room provided extra entertainment. It was great to walk out of your front door to find a gathering of chicks! The coastal walks are wonderful, as is the beach at Wembury which is ideal for rock-pooling. The local pub, The Odd Wheel, is a few minutes walking distance and serves proper, freshly cooked food for very reasonable prices. All in all a very enjoyable holiday which we would definitely do again!

Our second stay at Traine Farm which was very enjoyable yet again. The farm is well located for nearby Wembury beach with a good pub five minutes walk away and a lovely 20 minute walk down to the beach through fields and footpaths.

As before the farm is just what you would hope it to be; a real farm setting - no gimmicks, quiet, beautiful location and the owners, Sheila & Robert are very friendly and accommodating. Our children really enjoyed staying and made good use of the games room. There are enough other people staying in the farm's five cottages to make it friendly & relaxed without ever being too much.

We're looking forward to staying again in the future!

If your children like animals, the countryside, beaches and telly in the evening, plus table tennis and air hockey, then this farm has it all. If you like delicious free range eggs, a nearby pub with good value meals, comfortable beds, and lovely walks with some amazing views (the walk to Noss Mayo) then this farm is well worth it. The reviewers complaining about cleanliness were either unlucky or the problem has been resolved. The only downside was being woken up by the cockerels in the morning (although not all mornings), but then again, what else would you expect from a working farm!

We have just returned from having another great week in Clowberry cottage .This is our
third year that we have been down to the farm. With the cottage being wheelchair friendly we found it excellent for our Brother in Law who has had a stroke. All the rooms are large and very
clean .Sheila and Robert the owners are very pleasant and very helpful ,also nice to have the
chickens / Ducks wondering around with plenty of nice fresh eggs every morning . Apart from the
lovely beaches all within a short drive the nearest beach at Wembury with many rock pools is a haven for the children to go crabbing. The City of Plymouth with the Hoe and Barbican is only
15 min. away and you can see the moors from the end of the lane which is also easy to get to.
The four of us wil be going back again next year.

We recently stated in the Calmady cottage in May and really do recommend the farm! My wife, two daughters aged 4 and 22 months and I stayed for a week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The location is ideal for travelling whether it be down to Cornwall or up and around Devon, and with Wembury beach being a walk away, you really are spoilt for choice! The local bar The Odd Wheel is a lovely venue for food or just for a drink and again only a short walk away! Mr and Mrs Rowland where both friendly and helpful in regards to advice on places to go and things to do! Our children loved the chickens running around and we were also lucky enough to see a Calf born right outside our bedroom window! I would highly recommend Traine farm cottages and we will definitely be staying again.

The farm is perfectly located for discovering south devon. The cottage we stayed in was very clean and had everything that we needed, we were welcomed and then left to enjoy the farm and surrounding land. There are friendly horses that like attention and chickens running freely, fresh eggs, fresh air and peace. Wembury is a great place to stay, on your doorstep you have the sea, countryside and town, you cannot be bored here. The sea is is crystal clear and clean, the countryside is fresh, clean and there are plenty of beautiful sights. Go to plymouth for lots of entertainment, bowling, theatre, cinema, skiing, shops, restaurants, swimming and lots more.
Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Rede cottage for two has great views.

We (two adults and a two and a half year old) stayed at Cory cottage and would certainly recommend it. The cottage was clean, well equipped and had an added bonus of skylights in the bedroom - which allowed us to watch the night sky whilst drifting off to sleep. The heating system warmed the cottage up very quickly.

The owners were friendly, approachable and always helped us with any query that we had. They also allowed our son to have a ride on one of their ponies. The farm itself was great fun; each morning we fed the pigs and said hello to the chickens, cows and ponies.

The cottage was a perfect location for beaches, which were great for rock pooling. Wembury beach is a must. There is a cafe (an old Mill) right by the beach which does fantastic cheese scones and soup. We would love to return sometime.
