“Good for water sports.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2011

The centre acts as a B&B for people participating in water sports. It is run as a charity and could do with a little more of a commercial/professional approach as given the location and captive market it should be a little gold mine.
Bedrooms are clean and bright the beds are suitable for teenagers not adults. The showers etc clean and servicable. Breakfast is generous but the same every day, scrambled eggs, tinned tomatoes, bacon and the ubiquitous industrial sausage complete with plastic skin ( gosh I really hate cheap meat!). For lunch you will have to visit one of the local cafes non of which are brilliant.
The bar has great views across the harbour and serves a decent pint.

Room Tip: Ask for one overlooking the harbour.

Just got back from a 2 night break at the Mountbatten Watersports centre, Plymouth..... and all of us had a great weekend!. Our eldest daughter uses a wheelchair, and the accomation is excellent, , we have never stayed anywhere where we can get a family room with an adapted bathroom (Most hotels only offer accessable accomadation in a twin room only)...and great views too! Lots of different watersports to suit all abilities, We had a great trip around Plymouth and over to cornwall, and we're lucky enough to watch the Americas cup from a spectator boat - which was very exciting!.
All the staff we met were incredibly helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious and a good choice, from lovely breakfasts to the meals served in the bar overlooking the water.Areally good base as well if you have time for anything else after all the watersports! We will definately be visiting again!! Thanks to all at the Centre :-)

We (Family of 4) spent a lovely weekend based out of the Mount Batten Centre (dont confuse with Mountbatten Hotel), staying in a family room overlooking the water. The Centre offers a wide range of water sports and diving courses for all ages with accommodation on site and the added advantage of being right opposite the Barbican, which you can reach via regular water taxis.

All the staff were fantastic and there was a really nice relaxed feel to the place and the bar has a lovely balcony overlooking the boats. Rooms were all spotless, lots of hot water and cable TV.

If you are an active family, couple or simply want to visit Plymouth then this is a great place to base yourself. We will definitely be back.

I would also recommend you visit the Borrington Arms (Bori) for great beer and food, it is about 10 minutes walk down the river towards Plymstock.
