“Well worth a visit !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014

Just stayed for one night but wish we could have stayed longer. Fantastic sea views with comfortable guest room. Everything very well thought out with friendly host. Breakfast huge and with great choice so sets you up for the day exploring North Devon. We were made to feel very welcome and will be recommending to friends and family.

Room Tip: All rooms have a fantastic sea view. Top floor rooms in eaves perfectly adequate but if tall you wou...

It is over 20 years since we last stayed at this hotel nestled in the cliffs of north Devon and in that time the hotel and area have remained unspoiled by the progress in time.
This is a very peaceful area with stunning views over the sea and nothing to hear other than the birds singing from dawn to dusk.
The hosts, John and Rose were very accommodating and catered for all our needs with excellent food and service. Will definitely return again !!

We went for our wedding anniversary and were warmly welcomed by John and Rose, (our hosts). Our room was very comfortable and spacious with an uninterrupted view out over the bay. A special request by my husband for specific flowers in the room was fulfilled by Rose with a beautiful display by her fair hand! Her husband John was incredibly enthusiastic and knowledgable about beauty spots, walks, scenic drives etc - laying out maps to describe more fully the areas of interest. Rose's cooking was excellent, Breakfast to suit all appetites and tastes and a wonderful evening meal of lamb, cooked to perfection and followed by Tarte Tatin baked by their daughter - all courteously delivered to the table by John. What a warm, inviting family team effort, we didn't want to leave!

We have stayed here before & like it very much.We were a little disappointed with our room this time but only in that we preferred one we'd had twice before.
There is quite a choice at breakfast & is excellent.

We stayed during the Easter weekend and were delighted to find that it was all we had hoped for. The view from our room was stunning looking across the coast and over the moors. I couldn't stop taking photos as the light changed and clouds softly cloaked the coastline. The room and bed was very comfortable, ( I called it the "Iris room") with a great bath and shower. The dining room opened to a lovely balcony where you could sit outside and enjoy the fabulous view. A delicious breakfast was served formally by our warm and friendly host with freshly squeezed juices and perfect eggs. Our host was also very happy to make great suggestions for walks along the coast and was full of fascinating local facts. He encouraged us to make our main dinner selections before we went out for the day, so he could ensure he could satisfy all visitors. Pre-dinner drinks and crisps were served in the lovely lounge. The dinner was generous in size, served with silver service and was full of flavour. The apple dessert was divine! Great choice of wines. We would love to return.

Room Tip: All the rooms are quiet, but choose a room looking over the coast and moors for fabulous views.

We booked in here from the Lynton tourist centre and were more than satisfied. We asked for views and it totally delivered - our room looked out over the coastline and across the water to Wales. The room was very spacious with a great bathroom with bath and powerful shower. Bed was comfy and room was quiet. We watched the changing colours of the headland as the sun set from our window with wine by the glass brought to the room with a bowl of crisps. Breakfast was fantastic and served formally with relaxed silver service and great home cooking combined with local knowledge of the area. The dinner menu looks great however needs to be booked by 11am so late arrivals can't benefit from this if only staying one day. Book dinner ahead!
