“Fantastic accommodation at Woodlands”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2012

Stayed with a friend for 3 nights occupying 2 double rooms at a very keenly-priced single-occupancy rate. The rooms were newly refurbished and were to a very high standard including minibar, stylish wet-room and extremely comfortable beds.
Breakfast was well cooked and served in a lovely room with views across the valley.
The owners are friendly, knowledgable and helpful offering to book restaurants and making recommendations on the best places to eat and visit.
In many ways, the accommodation was equal to a 4* business hotel but with the personality and charm of a family home. Strongly recommended.

SUPERB accommodation, Andy and Jo very friendly and welcoming. Seeing the badgers right
under our bedroom window just topped off what was a relaxing and very enjoyable short stay.
Will definately be back. Kim and Martin

Stayed at the Woodland Guest House for 2 nights in August. Fantastic place, very friendly owners and wonderful breakfast. We were upgraded without even asking and had a wonderful stay. Will definitely go back.

I must agree with the other reviews both Jo and Andy were most welcoming the breakfasts and hospitality were excellent. Our room was spacious and the mini bar didn't make a noise! We did not get to see the badgers but enjoyed watching the squirrels eating!

Andy & Jo are very friendly, welcoming hosts who went out of their way to make us feel at home with plenty of advice and information on local walks and places to eat. The room we had was not one of the recently upgraded rooms, though if we had not been told we would not have guessed - it was very comfortable and clean with lovely views from the top floor window. Toiletries, coffee and tea making facilities are available in the room along with a small minibar with drinks at reasonable prices. Breakfast was excellent with some of the best bacon I have tasted.

There are parking spaces opposite the house and Lynton and Lynmouth are only 15min walk away so you can easily go out for a drink without taking the car.

We only stayed 3 nights but very much enjoyed our time at Woodlands and will likely return in future (as it seems many others do).

Room Tip: Rooms on the middle floor have just been refurbished with wet rooms

We stayed here during Peter and Carole's ownership and, when there was a change, we wondered whether it would be as good. We stayed with Jo and Andy in 2011 for the first time and were glad that we did so. They were very welcoming, the breakfasts were exellent and the comfort in the rooms was as good as before.
But Jo and Andy were very busy last Winter and have been upgrading the rooms. We stayed for 4 nights in July, in the same room as we had last year. What a difference! The refurbishment has included the installation of a wet room in the upgrade of the ensuite, just perfect after a hard day walking.
Woodlands is perfecty positioned as a base for walking as Valley of Rocks, Watersmeet and Countisbury are all accessible without using the car.
Needless to say, we shall be coming again next year, but for longer!

We spent one night here at The Woodlands and wish we had booked longer. Andy and Jo were the perfect hosts from our welcoming cup of tea on arrival to our goodbyes when we left. Our room was very clean and comfortable which included a mini bar and fridge and the breakfast was to die for, the best ever.
It was lovely to sit on our balcony and see the deer on the hill opposite and watch the badgers feeding at night.
We fully recommend The Woodlands and will definitely be going back.
