Description: The ASK Italian restaurant group boasts an excellent Exeter venue, situated in a stunning period building on the green next to Exeter Cathedral. The ASK Italian restaurant has recently gone through an extensive refurbishment. We've created a restaurant with a distinctive new look inspired by modern Italian design. And with the help of our expert friends, including awarding-winning chef Theo Randall, we've created a menu that features a range of simple, classic Italian food and an all Italian wine list.

“Tasteless Food Lurks Behind Pretentious Italian Menu”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

I've been to ASK on several occasions, although never by choice, and each time the food has been bland and overpriced. Think £2 Tesco microwave pasta meal and you'll get the idea. Except in Tesco their £2 pasta meal doesn't attempt to cover up for itself by using a name written in Italian. The voucher situation is also a complete false economy, half the items on the menu aren't available under the 'offer', and drinks are very expensive, so ultimately the cost of a 'bargain voucher meal' in ASK costs nearly as much as that which you could have in a decent non-chain restaurant. On a positive note, although acting a little manically, the waiter was OK. And the restaurant building is attractive. Overall, I suggest you go somewhere else.

“Favourite restaurant in Exeter”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

This is our favourite place to eat in Exeter, great service, great food at a reasonable price. The only down side is the pasta dishes are slightly too small for us.

“Good food in an extraordinary building”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

The restaurant is situated in a wonderful listed building by the Cathedral in Exeter. You don't often get the chance to spend time in a 16th century monks refectory so a visit is worth it for this alone. The pizzas are good and the service is very friendly.

“Ask in Exeter”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013 via mobile

Hungry and in search of shelter from the rain we stumbled into Ask for a spot of late lunch.
We found a waiter and requested a table, immediately you could see they were busy, not at capacity but under staffed. Food was a little bland but I was hungry and was not going to complain. Restaurant was clean, was able to use a voucher to get a little discount. It's the usual Ask chain so don't expect any thing else then a standard Ask Restaurant

“Not a great atmosphere but acceptable food and yummy waiters :)”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

I visited with a few of my friends tonight and used a voucher so the price was pretty reasonable. I had chicken ceaser salad which was very average, like something from tesco express. However my friends liked their pizzas, I'll go for that next time. The only reason they'll be a next time is due to some clever hiring though....

P.s honeycomb cheesecake never disappoints either!
