“Not a hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

We looked on the net and this place came up as a hotel. No way is this a hotel it is a b&b full stop without any owners being on site. We were booked into a family room that was in the roof of the building- and when u have a small child it is very difficult. It is also very difficult with one key, as there is no one on reception on duty. To put it nicely this is not the b&b or hotel for families mind u the evening receptionist if you could call him that thinks its the best room for families. It's a joke for £95 for a night, not had breakfast yet but will let u all know what this is like.

Polite staff, clean rooms with a good supply of tea and coffee in the room. Parking was free after 4 pm if a bit hit and miss as to whether you an get a space, but if the car park is full they will give you a permit for the street that lasts 24 hours.
Reasonable breakfast with a good choice.
Central to just about everything from the city itself to the stations.
Ticks all the boxes for a city centre hotel that is reasonably priced.
Recommended.

The hotel manager was so polite and helpful when I checked in which was a good start. The room was ensuite and was of a reasonable size. Breakfast was lovely. Very central location (almost half way between Exeter St David's and Exeter Central).

This is very conveniently located with free overnight parking opposite. My room was very small but clean and quiet. All in all a basic b and b but probably one of the cheapest places to stay in exeter.

Stayed there for one night only room very small, bed supposed to be king size but only a double very tired and worn linen. We live in Australia and for the price we paid could have stayed in a four star hotel in Melbourne. Best part was the breakfast waitress helpful and the Indian restaurant across the rd, wouldn't stay there again.

Room Tip: Very basic premier inn much better.

We had a one night stay here in room two in the basement. Room basically ok, but during the night, the sound of rain on the skylight window coupled with the sound of scraping on the glass from an overhanging branch, whenever it got windy, made it difficult to sleep. Also hearing next door through the thin walls didn't help. Suggest only using this room on a dry, still night!
Ah well, we thought in the morning, a shower would soon wake us up....
. Unfortunately the shower outlet seemed blocked, so it filled up quickly and took a long time to drain. In fact, my wife was trapped in there for a few minutes and didn't dare open the door in case it flooded the carpet.
Ah well, we thought, breakfast will soon put us in a better frame of mind......
Alas, our request for poached egg on toast was met with a rubber frisbee (in the shape of a poached egg) on overdone toast.
Ah well, we concluded, we won't be coming back again......

Room Tip: Avoid the basement.

Clean room, large bed, warm and very friendly staff. Also a lovely english breakfast. Very close to the city centre for shopping, etc and only a few minutes walk from Central Train Station. Would stay here again.

Room Tip: We stayed on the top floor, about 49 stairs, so need to be fairly fit to walk up the stairs. But our...
