“Killerton Kitchen Cafe is great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

We are regulars here - a good walk around the beautiful grounds, a stroll in the formal garden then lunch in the kitchen cafe - perfect!

The food is of high quality, local and good value. The meal deal in particular is good. This Sunday I had roast pork with all the trimmings followed by rhubarb crumble and clotted cream for £10.50. There are sandwiches and snacks available too. The service is efficient and friendly and the decor really attractive - highly recommended.

“A great visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

This national trust property ranks with the best we have visited, extremely knowledgeable guides make all the difference! This is a very informal property to visit, you are allowed to actually sit down in the rooms and soak up the atmosphere, most unusual for the national trust.
The grounds are vast and well maintained, go and enjoy!

“Disability Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

I visited Killerton House today accompanying a disabled friend with her own motorised scooter.
We found every one without exception incredibly helpful.
The Staff on Reception, the Stewards at the House and in particular the Gentleman in charge and Staff at the Restaurant who really gave 110% to ensure that my friend was accommodated comfortably.
Well done and thank you to all concerned who made the whole experience most pleasureable.

“Superb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

Relatively easy to get to. Ample car parking. Staff on the reception desk were very friendly and welcoming. Admittedly the house itself doesn't carry the same 'wow' factor as other NT houses, but the volunteers in the rooms were extremely friendly and knowledgeable on all topics. We were given the complete history of the house, the estate and its historic links to politics. We were permitted to take photographs inside - which was really useful as I was able to further research a few of the paintings when I got home.

Didn't think I would like the costume exhibition upstairs, but as a male it was actually one of the best bits of the visit and was radically different to anything else I'd seen in a National Trust property before.

The little restaurant was very pleasant, it was clean and quiet. Again the staff were really friendly and our order only took a few minutes to arrive. The food was very nice and reasonably priced.

The gardens and wider estate outside are fabulous. We spent about 2 hours wondering around and sitting down in various locations to take in the views. In August when we visited, the flower borders around the house were spectacular and a true picture of colour. There were activities for children and blankets you could take and use to sit on.

There were a few little 'secret' points of interest which the room volunteers advised us about. The ice house, laundry and chapel were recommended to us, and were certainly worth seeing. Things like the giant redwoods were amazing to stand underneath and lookup at.

Definitely want to go back again - maybe in the winter. Altogether it was an excellent day.
