Though its history was interesting, we were disappointed given the size of the house, that in comparison so few rooms were open to visitors. The costumes on display were good and I know there can only be a few on display at any time, but we had expected a lot more rooms to be open as this is the National Trusts flagship south west headquarters. The gardens weren't as good as some of the other houses either. though there is planty of scope for walks and events are staged throughout the year. Ample space for parking is a bonus.

“A Day trip to Devon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

Having passed the signs many times whilst transiting through Exeter, we decided to meet friends one fine Saturday and visit Killerton House. I must say I was pleasently surprised. The house is not the largest of the National Trust houses that I have visiited, but it was very well presented. There were lots of curious ornaments and strangely, jigsaws to attempt whilst strolling slowly through the rooms. The tour of the house was completed by another first, A Cheese Tea which is a variant of the Cream tea and featured two cheese scones, a slab of local cheese and a pot of chutney washed down with a cup of tea. Very nice indeed.
Following a short rest, we sauntered out into the Saturday afternoon sunshine and spent a very pleasent hour strolling through the grounds and discovering a chapel and some strange random buildings hidden in the trees and bushes. Very nice indeed

“Always enjoyable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

We visit Killerton regularly and it is always an enjoyable experience. We especially recommend the Dine for £10 on the first Wednesday of every month. We have been to everyone this year and they have all been outstanding for the quality and variety of the food. There are two course to chose from on each course and this makes you try something different rather than going for your favourites and we have loved everything we have tried and have never come away disappointed or not liking a meal - we have always come away talking about how good it is. There is always a good choice of sides to add to the meal if you want something extra. The excellent restaurant staff warrant a special mention. The catering manager and his team are a real asset to Killerton and come from the days when nothing is too much trouble for the customer and their behaviour is always faultless. They can never do enough to help and area always polite, helpful and efficient and really make a good evening even better. Killerton also hosts some great events which are worth attending and there is a good and well run buggy service from the car park to the house if you need it. The laundry is well worth a visit around the side of the house when it is open and the costumes are to be admired. A buggy tour of the garden is well worth doing as well to see the beautiful grounds if you find walking difficult.

“Lovely Day out!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012

Second visit to Killerton house with the family. The house is stunning and the gardens are expansive and beautiful. The Chapel on the grounds is lovely. We dined in the Cafe there in the main house. Two of us had the meal deal at £10.25 each which included a delicious Sunday lunch (Roast loin of Pork) and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. We thoroughly enjoyed it- only comment would be that there could have been more veg for 2 people but it was still lovely. On our previous visit we had the Beefburger which was also lovely.
The volunteers inside the house are very helpful and friendly and we will be returning for more visits in the future!
