Stayed at the Abode while visiting the university open day with our daughter. booked two rooms one desirable and one comfortable. Travelled by train because of fuel strikes. Taxis easily available from the station. check in efficient. lift out of order so had to lug baggage up three floors. room looked fine, a little compact. Stripped wood floor (sloping) so suitcase rolled if not against a wall. Very comfortable queen bed and the most fantastic view of exeter cathedral. Did not seem to be much difference between our desirable room and our daughters comfortable room except for the view - she did not have one! Tea and coffee available in the room everything adequate. great location with real cafe culture feel as the hotel owns the cafe next door and the pub on the other side. A very old hotel dating back to the 1700s so uneven floors and creaking stairs part of the character. Ate in the restaurant for dinner which was excellent and the usual price for a tasting menu. Breakfast service was also excellent as was the quality of the hot food cooked to order. Great location for shopping/sightseeing. If i was in Exeter again I would definitely return to this hotel. Our rates of £115 and £135 including breakfast compared favourably with other hotels in the category.
