Description: The Oddfellows is a stone's throw away from Exeter's main shopping centre. This is a very friendly unpretentious gastro style pub, with a sociable, down to earth atmosphere. Throughout the day it is more of a café style bar, offering the best coffees in town, and becomes a gastro eating house during the evening

“Great cocktails!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

We held a student social at the Speakeasy bar and it was fantastic! The cocktails were amazing and freshly mixed in front of you.
I think this would be a great date location!

“Always great food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

I've used this bar for several years now since it changed it's name from The Thirsty Camel. Initially for the excellent Speakeasy cocktail bar (which is good but has never reached the dizzy heights it was in the Chris Lacey era) and subsequently for beer and food.

Food is always excellent and locally sourced and the puddings are some of the best value in town for their quality. They have one of the Best Sunday roasts in Exeter too.

A lovely small open kitchen where the staff can be seen working hard and the bar staff always make you feel welcome.

2 minor quibbles - the staff need a couple of lessons in pulling ale which too often looks flat and organise the tables and chairs better, there's too often not enough space to sit comfortably.

Keep up the great work.

“A great place for lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013 via mobile

We came here for lunch on a baking hot day. It was cool and pleasant and the decor is relaxing and quirky. There is a small courtyard with seating (stools only) but this offered no shade at midday. Seating not very comfortable. Produce on offer local and seasonal. Free wifi.

Good range on offer for lunch - check out the menu on the website. The best of our meals was my antipasto platter. We also ordered one of the pizzas from the interesting range on offer which was thin and crispy with a generous topping. The burger with pulled pork wasn't rated so highly - pronounced a bit dry and in need of more BBQ sauce.

We only had one pud - the deconstructed apple crumble which, as the menu explained helpfully is a baked eating apple with fudgy crumble ( more like flapjack crumbs) scattered around. This was very good.

The coffee was also really good.

Service was well- judged and the barman helpful and friendly. I can definitely recommend this one and we'll be back I'm sure.

Every time we manage to get into Exeter, we make a bee line to The Oddfellows. The menu is well balanced with something delicious for pretty much most palettes, staff are always helpful and there's always a great atmosphere..!! Cocktails upstairs are just amazing..!!
