Description: We are a daytime cafe with lovely views of Exeter Cathedral and the green. We have outdoor seating and seating on two floors inside. Open for breakfast, lunch, and afternoon teas, we source from local, small suppliers as it's good for the environment and the food tastes better. Our coffee is excellent, our choice of teas extensive (no teabags here), and wines, beers, ciders, and lagers produced by small, local family businesses. Open 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 5pm on Sundays. This is an independent, owner operated cafe. We give 1% of our profits to Medecins sans Frontieres. Cream Teas are served from 230pm (We recognise that not serving cream teas at lunchtime is not a popular policy and admit we do this partly for economic reasons. Better to be up front and honest about it!)

“The Best Sunday Lunch EVER!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2014

We visited for Sunday lunch having had a couple of lovely lunches- only paninis but with high quality, tasty ingredients and good strong coffee. When we arrived on Sunday, there was some confusion over our booking but this was sorted out and we went in to enjoy a lovely pork roast. Not only was the pork cooked to perfection- with crackling of course, but the vegetables were full of flavourings and not the normal boiled and done type typically served. Even the gravy was memorable! The potatoes were fluffy on the inside and crisp on the outside. The service was efficient and the calumet of money was good. With the beautiful location next to the Cathedral, we'll be back, especially as I've noticed they serve their roast beef rare which is unusual and welcome for a restaurant doing Sunday lunch.

“Wow what a breakfast!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2014 via mobile

Enjoyed breakfast this morning wandered across from my hotel sat down service was immediate. Cafe au lait perfect, full breakfast they happily swapped fried egg for scrambled and grilled tom for black pudding. Large plate of beans, mushrooms, bacon, sausage, hashbrown and toast. Freshly squeezed orange juice all grilled no oils grease or fat. Delightful recommended.

“A perfect lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2014

Quite simply, this is one of the best restaurants we have visited. The food was superb & served quickly. The surroundings were clean & bright and the staff were efficient & friendly. I complimented the staff member who dealt with the bill & she explained that they were like a family. This certainly shows & hopefully proves that the staff are treated like human beings. I can certainly recommend this restaurant to visitors to Exeter.

“Superb food - and gluten free too”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2014

Tea on the Green is a lovely little restaurant/cafe. Have been here twice now. The breakfasts are amazing - cooked to perfection. I had an Ulster breakfast and my wife had an English breakfast. Both were probably the best we'd ever had. Those of us with a wheat intolerance know had dire gluten free breads can be. Not so here. They make their own, to their own recipe. How fantastic to be able to get bread, panini etc that I can eat and thoroughly enjoy. Staff are brilliant too - very friendly and accommodating. Already looking forward to our next visit.
