Owner description: Take this extraordinary glimpse into the beloved holiday home of the famous and much-loved author Agatha Christie and her family. The relaxed and atmospheric house is set in the 1950s, and contains many of the family's collections, including archaeology, Tunbridgeware, silver, botanical china and books. Outside you can explore the large and romantic woodland garden, with a restored vinery, wild edges and rare plantings, which drifts down the hillside towards the sparkling Dart estuary.

“Elegance from a bygone age”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

The home of Agatha Christie is beautiful and elegant and so very atmospheric. This is helped in no small part by a pianist playing songs from her era on her Steinway piano. The property is set high above the River Dart and if you arrive by ferry as we did you have the choice of tackling a fairly steep path to the house or they have a little van which will take you up there if the walk is too challenging. As well as the house there are lovely grounds and a walled garden. People with mobility issues may have trouble with some of the terrain but there is a path that isn't too challenging. It costs about £9 each to get in which is a lot and makes it an even more sensible idea to become a member if you can afford it.Unfortunately the restaurant was closed for a function on the day of our visit; they do advise you to phone ahead and book so we hopped on the little ferry to Dittisham and had a delightful lunch there, but that's another review......

“Marvellous views. Lots of personal treasures.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

Apart from the stunning views, this house is particularly charming because you get to handle, as well as look at, all sorts of family treasures and scrapbooks, which give you a real insight into Agatha Christie. And there is a very nice Steinway piano which pianists are at liberty to play. We took the ferry from Dittisham across the Dart - a short but pleasant trip. Small tearoom offers the usual National Trust type of menu and there is ample seating outside, should we ever have a day for such indulgences.

“Lovely House & Gardens”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

The house is just as it was handed over to the National Trust, including all the Christie family possessions. Great walks and views.

“Finally seen the boathouse !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

This was our second visit to Greenway as last September it was too wet to even attempt the gardens. The staff here are all very helpful and friendly and for an Agatha Christie fan it is a super experience. The gardens were full of spring flowers and the views down to the Dart are stunning. Really recommend a visit here, we are National Trust members and would visit more often if we lived nearer.

So pleased that you managed to make it to the Boathouse on your second visit, and that the weather held off for you. Hopefully we will see you again soon for a third visit!

“Agatha Christie Revealed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

A real insight into the real Agatha Christie, A lot of personal mementoes tastefully arranged around the house. The walk up[ from the ferry is pleasant but not for the faint hearted. The gardens are absolutely fantastic.
