Just back from a 3 night break at Stoke Lodge Hotel in Stoke Fleming. Went with my elderly parents and we were well looked after by the friendly staff. We picked the hotel from the internet and had not been there before, though we had been to Stoke Fleming before when the children were small.
What you get is a friendly family run hotel which is maybe slightly old fashioned in a good way, but has a great setting. Get a sea facing room if you can because the views are great. There are two pools, inside and out, and terraces at the front that catch the sun.
The food was a pleasant surprise. We had 3 evening meals and two out of 3 main courses were really good. Lovely fish, nice vegetables including an outstanding dauphinoise potatoes, and attentive service. We thought the prices were good considering the quality of the food.
The outside could possibly do with a bit of cosmetic overhaul, but the outside heated pool is pleasantly situated and catches lots of sun.
Stoke Fleming is a pretty village and has the well known Blackpool Sands beach about 20 mins walk away. The high street is narrow and you need plenty of time to drive around, but dont let this put you off.
Worth paying for a sea facing room.
