“Friendly and welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

We have just spent the weekend attending Dartmouth Food Festival, which was great. No entry fees, lots of food and drinks to buy, demonstrations, cookery workshops and tastings. We spent 2 nights at the Maitland. Very good B&B, good value for money - £70 per night. Less than 5 minute walk (on the flat) to harbour, shops, restaurants and festival area. Parking at the rear of the property (which is a real bonus in Dartmouth). Jane is friendly and helpful, the breakfast was lovely, she uses locally sourced sausages, bacon etc, we even had double yoked eggs and she cooked the toast just as my husband likes it. Will definitely be back.

I stayed here earlier this year when in Dartmouth for a wedding. It was an excellent B&B experience. Room was clean, breakfast was excellent, the owner, Jane, was extremely friendly and helpful and the place had a car park (much needed in Dartmouth). All in all, fantastic value for money.

We have just spent a few nights at The Maitland. A great place to stay where Jane immediately makes you feel really welcome. It's clean, comfortable and the breakfast was brilliant. Close to the town with it's own parking. Highly recommended!

Stayed in this bed and breakfast over Easter. The room was clean and tidy, the position was great to walk into the centre of Dartmouth and Jane was a lovely hostess. All in all had a lovely time and would certainly go back to stay at Maitland again...

This is a real 'gem' and one of those places you hope you'll come across when travelling. Jane made us both extremely welcome without being at all intrusive. The room/bathroom was excellent and the bed VERY comfortable. A nice touch was the fresh milk available and the bar of chocolate was a really nice little addition too. Breakfast was very substantial and the fact it was cooked to order at a pre-agreed time was another nice touch. The house itself is just a few minutes walk from the river and very well placed to explore the town on foot. The addition of a reserved parking place was another bonus. All in all a truly enjoyable experience and we certainly hope to visit again before too long.

This is a little b & b right in the centre of Dartmouth with your own on site safe parking, and a 2 minute flat walk right into the heart of town.We stayed for 3 nights at a cost of only £65 per night for the two of us.
Jane does you a huge cooked breakfast if you want it,and although you would`t call it a particularly smart or modern place,it is so friendly and homely.
Excellent value for money and in a prime position, especially with the parking, because trying to park in Dartmouth can be a nightmare.
For good food at a good price and a friendly atmosphere, you cant beat "the floating Bridge"pub overlooking the ferry. They do 2 steaks with all the trimmings plus abottle of decent wine for £25,and they have areally cheeky, happy Irish barman. We ate here evry night, and it was good each time.

I thoroughly recommend this B & B to anyone. We were really impressed by the value for money, the cleanliness, the food and- most of all- by Jane, who runs the B & B, and is warm, helpful and thoughtful. We really did feel at home here, and will be sure to return.

p.s. it also has the cosiest beds around!!
