Stayed whilst visiting Britannia Naval College which is literally 200 yards away. The room was large and nicely decorated. The beds were excellent and very comfortable. The host was welcoming and hospitable. The town centre is a very short walk away and the river and quayside even closer.

Breakfast was excellent, far better than you get in some swanky hotels as it was fresh, made with locally sourced ingredients. As we had to leave very early the owner kindly offered to do us a breakfast earlier than stipulated on the hotel information. This was very kind and demonstrated excellent quality of service towards is. We really did enjoy our stay.

Excellent value for money also compared to other places in Dartmouth.

I can certainly recommend.

Rob and Sheila provide a warm and welcoming place to stay in the heart of one of England's most beautiful seaside towns. Everything you want is on the doorstep. Stayed here several times over the past 15 years. Breakfast still excellent. Will be back again!

Everything was top quality, Great Breakfast selection, Room cleaned every day, Tea and coffee replenished everyday Rob & Sheila made us very welcome, Will return to stay there again. Great Value as they amended the price that was quoted to a reduced price for the season as they could have charged us the original price that we had accepted, How honest is that ?

I had the double room on the first floor. The bathroom was very cold with the heated towel rail not working. The shower cubicle has stained grouting and poorly fitted tiles. On the positive side, the bed was very comfortable and I enjoyed the fresh milk in the fridge for tea. At breakfast, which was great, I wasnt impressed by the chipped cup. The location was perfect. I think it was a little expensive given the state of the bathroom. Alot of the gloss paint needs redoing, especially the stairs.

Eight of us (three couples and two kids) took over the Captain's House for the New Year. The proprietors (Rob and his wife) made us feel really welcome. Great standard of accommodation, assistance with local parking, excellent breakfasts, sound advice on local attractions and restaurants, and a superb, non-intrusive level of customer service for the duration of our stay. Very central for Dartmouth yet quiet as it tucked away behind the main street. Highly recommended.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

We stayed at this B&B shortly after Christmas. The room ( on the 2nd floor) was a good size, clean, well decorated and comfortable and with all the facilities you would expect. Bed enormous and very comfortable. No view of the river but this was not important to us. Breakfast was excellent - well prepared and presented. Only niggles were the loo seat - which would not stay up on its own - and the draughty bathroom window. Staircase steep and winding which could be difficult if you have mobility problems. Not particularly cheap but reasonable value.

Room Tip: 1st floor would be best if you have difficulty with stairs.
