We stayed at the North Morte campsite this summer and I can honestly say the whole place took my breath away. Waking up and opening the tent door with views out to the sea - amazing!! Watching the sun set from my deckchair, glass of wine in hand -total relaxation. Within a 5minute car journey you are in beautiful Woolacombe with the cleanest beaches I have seen in a long while.

This was my first venture to Devon - by no means will it be my last. It renewed the faith in me that you can have a great holiday in this country and see places that the rest of the world would envy!!

A week's holiday in North Devon basing ourselves in a rented holiday cottage, Bideford.

The cottage was in the East-the-Water just across the river from Bideford town centre. Bideford was a good base for touring the North Devon area with easy access to the A39 'Atlantic Highway'.

Places worth visiting include Clovelly, Bucks Mills (Walking), Bude (Just in Cornwall), Ilfracombe, Lynton and Lynmouth, Watersmeet (Walking nr Lynmouth), Woolacombe, Porlock, Hartland Point (Walking again), Duckpool and the Tarka Trail south of Bideford.

Pubs worth visiting:
- The Globe Inn, Appley, Wellington
- The Hoops Inn, Horn's Cross, Bideford
- The Fox and Goose, Parracombe
- The Bush Inn, Morwenstow, Nr Bude

Not impressed
- Driving along some beach roads to find car parks with all day charges when we only plan to be there for less than an hour. A sign at the start of th eroda may be better
- Appledore and Westward Ho... Nothing special after reading the tourist guides, best part was the coast area at Northam Burrows

This part of England is beautiful, there's so much to do and many places to see. Devon is full of villages and towns, and is famous for its cream teas. If you did not know where you were, you would be forgiven for thinking that you were in the Mediterranean. Starting from Sidmouth with a fine seafront and world famous donkey sanctuary, right through Beer, Exeter to Plymouth is how far Devon stretches. Every village and town is well worth a visit.

There is also the working port of Brixham which has the Golden Hind ship, operated by Sir Walter Raleigh. Here you can watch live catch being brought in upon the boats, there is also many shops and museums to visit.

Devon is an ideal place to visit and bring the family. the number for the tourist board in Devon is ----------. There is also an e-mail which is -----------
