“WOW!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013 for a stay in July 2013

I have stayed in many cottages but these are possibly the best ! Ian & Liz made me feel very welcome. After a long drive there is a fantastic organic welcome basket on arrival and to unwind you have the SPA with steam room, jacuzzi and sauna! Work brought me to Stockport and there was really no other option in the city as the cheap, run down hotels and B&B's were not attractive. Top marks to Ian & Liz.... I'll be back! Many Thanks :0)

“Short Term, Long Term, Perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013 for a stay in December 2012

I stayed here during December 2012 as I was working on a pantomime at the Stockport Plaza theatre nearby. Liz and Ian were wonderful throughout my stay and nothing was every too much of a problem. I stayed in Goyt cottage and it is very modern and up to date, the kitchen has everything in that you will need for normal self catering. The bed is very comfortable and plenty of space for personal belongings in the bedroom. The cottage is placed perfectly on a number of bridle paths that are good for cycling and walking. I took my bike and managed to get onto the middlewood way which goes from marple to macclesfield and is 10miles. (About 1.5miles from the cottage to the start of the middlewood way).

There is also a SPA consisting of a Hot Tub and a steam room, it is very relaxing in here. My fiancee booked a massage too which she says was a very relaxing afternoon and value for money.

Marple has plenty of amenities to offer including a co-op supermarket, costa coffee and various banks, plus restaurants and pubs.

Overall this is a fantastic place to stay and worth every penny for the comfort and relaxation it delivers.

“Fantastic, relaxing, can't wait to go back.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012 for a stay in August 2012

Wow! Where do we possibly start. The holiday was a joy from start to finish. The owners Liz and Ian were delightful and made us feel welcome from the minute we arrived with home baked bread and freshly laid eggs. The accommodation was fantastic with everything you need from flat screen tv's, wifi, a well stocked kitchen for self catering and spotlessly clean. The spa was a bonus (hot tub, sauna and steam room) and was much needed after hours outside in the fresh air. We travelled with a 6 and 11 year and both loved being able to wander in and out of the stables, around the fields and being able to share the passion for the horses that the owners have. My daughter had two private riding lessons (£10 each) and had the holiday of a lifetime as one of the owners took her under her wing and allowed her to spend time close up with her horse. She hasn't stopped talking about it since. From walks along the river (spotting the kingfishers and herons), bbq's in the barn and wine on the outside patio. A fantastically relaxing holiday if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle. All you need to remember is your walking boots and robes. Liz and Ian couldn't do enough for to ensure we had a relaxing holiday. We have always stayed in hotels but we enjoyed it so much we have already booked to go back.

“WOW! We loved it and you will too!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012 for a stay in November 2012

Well, where do I start. From the moment I booked to the moment I left we were treated like royalty! Liz ad her husband really, really go out out of their way to make sure everything perfect. From a beautiful hamper containing organic fresh baked bread, butter tea, coffee etc and if you are lucky and the chickens lay you get fresh eggs!

Now the cottage/apartment is beautiful. Superior fittings and everything is a really good modern quality, however still retains the charm of the English countryside. The kitchen is very well equipped and the bathroom contains some toiletries - more than expected for a holiday rental. It really is like staying at a hotel but without the hassle. The french doors of the cottage lead directly onto the garden area with the river flowing freely just below. Even in Novemeber it wa lovely to sit outside with a pot of tea and listen to it flowing. Although suitable for 4, I wouls suggest 2 adults and 2 children rather than 4 adults. Although it has 4 beds we did find sleeping together in standard doubles difficult! But I suppose that is down to taste, it can accommodate 4 and we did survive fine, although I think for a week we may have struggled!

The Spa - The spa is excellent. Huge hot tub, steam room, sauna etc with a shower and a lovely relaxing area. I think the cottages were fully booked or 1 free on our weekend but we only encountered other people in the spa once! How amazing is that. A private spa to chill out in with a a glass (plastic of course!) filled with wine! The place is bliss! As we were a group of 4 girls (one who is 8 months pregnant), we spent a lot of time just chilling. I also have to say the spa treatments done by lyn where also excellent. Very cheap at only £18 for a back neck and shoulder massage and £35 for a 1.5 hour long facial. She is so lovely and worked all day until the early evening to complete ours! Liz is currently in the process of creating a proper therapy room which I think will be in the a lovely room which still retains the charm of the countryside. Really, we couldt have asked for more.

When we were there, Liz was always available via text and would pop over if we had even the slightest question. She really couldnt do enough for us. I also enjoyed a hack on the lovely Joe for only £20! Again a fantastic experience and I must mention Emma the groom who accompanied me. She was a fabulous companion and really good to ride with.

If I could give this place 6 stars I would. A real country break just 5 mins from normal shops and life. Just a beautiful setting! Excellent break from start to finish and am just about to email to book a second break after Christmas!

Thank you so much for making our break so special and look forward to seeing you again very soon! Steph x

“Would definently stay again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012 for a stay in October 2012

I booked Holly Cottage as a last minute Birthday present for my Partner and Chocolate Labrador Rolo, (dogs welcome in 2 of the cottages). We arrived shortly after 4pm on Saturday to be greeted by a very warm hostess Liz, who gave us our keys and showed us to our cottage, Liz talked us through how everything worked in the cottage and then took us down to explain how the spa room works, (this is included in your cottage rate) whilst we were in the spa we meet Liz's husband Ian who was also very nice. Once we were clued up on how to operate the spa we went back to have a good look round the cottage.
Each cottage comes with a welcome basket and there was also a welcome pack for the dog as well as the welcome packs the cottage comes with everything you require for a weekend to week away. There is a really handy notes book in the cottage which gives you all the information that you require for you stay in the cottage and Marple from places of to restaurants, Taxi's basically anything you can think of.

The cottages are set on the back of the river and near 100 acres of wood so there are loads of places to walk with the dog or on your own. Even though the cottages are in a Equestrian centre it is one of the most relaxing places I have been on holiday and I did not want to come home.

Liz and Ian are wonderful hosts who are there for anything that you need but are not constantly in your way, All in all Russell myself and Rolo had a lovely holiday and are looking to go again.

“Peaceful and pretty”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012 for a stay in September 2012

We stayed in the Goyt cottage. We were expecting it to be bucolic and charming but this room had class. Very open and light filled but cosy despite a wet and cold day. The owners were amazingly helpful and clearly enjoy running the place. The gorgeous country surrounding it and the proximity to Manchester were very welcome.
We'd definitely come again to explore the Peaks or just sit in the otherworldly spa and watch the birds in the trees while choosing which lovely pub to eat dinner in. One mark off the idyllic location only because you'll need a car unless you do just plan to roll along the riverbank and back while reading books under the trees.
