“Views are amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2014

Views are breath taking. Food is Delicious especially crevettes. Disappointed they got rid of vege burger! The staff on the bar need to pritoise the people waiting at bar as stood there twenty mins and the guy kept serving people who had just walked in and picking regulars over us. But never experienced this before and go 12 times a year. Just makes your experience a little less amazing.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014

We've been here quite a few times and its a truly fantastic place... a little gem. A vibrant, capable and very young catering team who seem to work endless hours added to the enjoyment of our fourth visit here; they can only be commended for their efforts. Good food, good ale, good rooms and good service are the reasons I'm giving another 5 star rating.

I have worked in catering/hotels & public houses for over 25 years and it has to be said that breakfast was a complete and utter shambles. No tea-spoons, no milk, no orange juice, no tea bags, no coffee and no sugars were available for us from either the buffet table or our table at both breakfasts.

Breakfast is served from 8:30 - 9:30, we came down at 9:15 on both mornings to be met with utter chaos; I would imagine if we'd have been earlier it would have been perfect. A seemingly simple task for staff to top up the coffee, hot water for tea, tea bags, orange juice as and when needed etc was unable to be completed on both mornings. The Cornish fry up on the first morning was perfect, the same offering on the 2nd morning was tepid, undercooked and a portion of around half the size of the previous mornings offering.

Why do we think that is? It's simple, one member of staff to serve over 20 residents their breakfast. On paper that's fine, a good ratio of staff per resident. However, its the weekend and us residents will normally all come down at once as late as possible. This puts added pressure on the one member of staff, who all at once, has to take orders, serve toast, serve breakfasts, check customer satisfaction and top up the buffet table all during a frenetic 15 minute spell. Naturally this causes us to wait longer than expected for our food and other breakfast peripherals.

Again, this is a gem of a place, please don't let the breakfast scenario put you off. To the management, please rota on somebody extra to help out at breakfast; that way everything would be perfect.

Room Tip: Any of the rooms with a sea view.

Excellent location and service, excellent value at the pre Easter promotion.

Please please, have hot plates for your breakfast! It will keep the food warm!! and replace the hot water flasks for tea.

the new menu is more fast than class.

Lovely spacious inn, overlooking the sea. Food was lovely and staff friendly. Rooms tasteful and spacious. Room 8 large and comfortable but has very little sea view. Something to be considered at the time of booking. We chose the inn because of the location so would have been disappointed not to have a view.

Awesome views, a nice room, good food, helpful staff, great breakfast. The only thing which could improve it would be a slightly later check out time. 10am is a bit early. 11am would be fine. Will be staying again

Port William never fails. Had a wonderful two nights stay, our sixth time. The views, the walks and the sound of the roaring sea. Hotel is very clean, rooms very nicely done. Can't wait to go back for another visit.

This was our fourth stay at the Port William & it won't be our last.
We had a lovely time - plain & simple.
The staff are so helpful, polite and courteous.
The food is very good and the breakfast is excellent, with a really good choice.
Our room was clean, modern and the view is second to none.
Thanks to everyone at the Port William - see you soon.
