A strong sturdy pair of walking boots is advised, and plenty of stamina. Quite a long walk from the car park which does have a café, to the castle itself. Beautiful and atmospheric with views of the sea. There are quite a number of rare birds. It is well worth walking down to the beach and see Merlins Cave, especially if the sea is in. Try and see if you are brave enough to walk through if the sea is out. There is also a small waterfall on the opposite rocks. I loved Tintagel and would visit again at any time. I did not like the small town, mainly because it felt like Merlin was on sale in every shop.
