When you are four "senior ladies" (who are admittedly "hard to please") and think you've found the cleanest and and one of the nicest accommodations on a 2 week trip through London and southern England what a pleasant surprise to be met by two of the warmest and most hospitable innkeepers: Mandy and Gary. It can't get much better. They have gone through extensive renovations since purchasing the Thurlestone from the previous owner and have many more plans for improvements in the future, but the place is most impressive already. You can tell they take pride in their B&B and are sincere in their efforts to please their guests. Mandy makes excellent recommendations on restaurants and even calls and makes the reservations for you. As a matter of fact Mandy can't do enough for her guests...all with a pleasant personality and a great smile. The breakfasts are super, the lounge a nice place to visit and relax after a day of sightseeing and the beds very comfortable. Look no further for a B&B in the St. Ives area...this is the best and it doesn't cost the most.

We recently returned from our holiday at Thurlestone in Carbis Bay and had a great time. The guest house itself is about a mile from St Ives and can be accessed via a coastal path which starts directly across the road from Thurlestone and is a lovely walk. We found it much better staying in Carbis Bay rather than St Ives as its not quite as busy and much easier to access.
On first impression the guest house looked lovely from the outside and there was car parking at the front for residents only so we never had a problem to park. Inside was very pleasant and clean and both modernly and tastefully decorated. Our room was lovely and cosy and was cleaned thoroughly every day.
Breakfast was amazing - a choice of cereal, fruit, yoghurts, toast and a big cooked breakfast each morning. It was always freshly prepared and so was piping hot.
Last but most certainly not least, Mandy and Gary (the owners) gave us outstanding service and were always willing to help. We would certainly return again in the future and recommend Thurlestone to anyone who is thinking of staying in Cornwall. Paul and Emma

The Thurlestone Guest House is located in Carbis Bay near St Ives. We had a great time staying here. The owners are very friendly and can't do enough for you. The rooms were clean and well maintained. Breakfast was superb and the bar is a great place to relax. The Thurlestone is in a good location, 5 mins by taxi to St Ives (don't take the car!) and opposite is a lovely footpath to Carbis Bay (5 mins). This guest house comes highly recommended - you should see the visitors book - many more entries like mine !

Had a pleasant surprise at this lovely hotel. The rooms are spotlessy clean, the doublebeds are six foot wide and comfortable,
they have tv and coffee/tea facilities.
The breakfast was excellent with full english or healthy options.

You may want a rear room if you are a light sleeper as the hotel is on a main rd. Our host Mandy is very pleasant and friendly.

Carbis bay is just across the road ( 5 min walk) and is ideal for children. St Ives is a short drive away.

I would definetly stay again and would recommend.
