“Home from home Holiday Break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2012

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay. A wedding was taking place on the Saturday and despite how busy they were, Steph the chef provided us with a lovely meal.
The bar staff (Tom and Nicola) were great company...Tom making all sorts of concoctions for the wedding guests.
The waitresses were very friendly and attentive...the full monty breakfast is strongly recommended.
We enjoyed our walks to St. Ives, with the option of a bus back.

Room Tip: We had room 14...overlooking the sea. Spacious.

Pleasantly surprised when arrived at Hotel. Lovely decor and pleasant staff on arrival. lovely clean fresh room if a little small in the bathroom department but as a solo traveler only staying for one night it was fine. Unfortunately I did not have an evening meal as I had a meeting but the menu looked lovely and look forward to sampling next time. Comfy Bed. Breakfast was well cooked and very enjoyable.

Room Tip: If you are staying for more than one night it may be worth asking for a larger bathroom.

I am not one to normally write or rate my stay's in hotels. But on this occasion it's a must. Believe me when I say, through my work I spent a week in Italy every month for 30 years and can boast I know good food and authenticity.

Casa Romana, il ristorante è molto. Il cibo è incredibile e i sapori e il gusto sono fantastici.

Myself and Wife stayed for 3 nights whilst attending a friends wedding. From walking into the hotel, we where welcomed with a open friendly greeting by the staff. Everyone had a smile on their face and nothing was to much bother. they where willing to help all the time and enjoyed their jobs (they also work very hard and their standard of customer service was excellent)
I do care what others mite write and I know "each to their own" but any negativity is small minded. We are looking forward to our next visit in the very near future.

Well done, to everyone and thank you for a brilliant stay. (oh we were in room 20 and had a beautiful sea view)

We have stayed at the Atlantic a number of times over the past few years and each time was great. The breakfast was always exceptional. We stayed for three days 24th May and this is our first stay since the refurbishment. On arrival there was no one at reception (1800hrs). A very pleasant young chap from the bar searched for our key, went away and then phoned someone and found it! He showed us to our room and that was that. Except for when we checked out on the Sunday we never noticed anyone at reception. In fact we came and went over the three days and never saw any staff that made us feel welcome or acknowledged us, we may as well have been in a hostel. The room 18 was a family room right at the top, nice room, clean, tidy good views but the on-suite was totally inadequate for a room this size. It was small, the shower was electric and just about dribbled and the toilet took about 10 minutes to refill (obvious water pressure problems). This was bad enough for two of us but a family with kids, no way!

The adjacent room was 19 and the walls are paper thin, we were kept awake the last night by someone snoring who could have been in the room with us (no exaggeration, a nightmare for sound). You could hear everything they were saying and doing and I expect they could say the same for us! The first night two people up about 6am chatting loudly, showering etc. etc. and they could also have been in our room also!

First breakfast we had was mushrooms and poached eggs on toast, mushrooms like leather strips eggs very well cooked (hard)! Other days were better, no fish on menu though such as haddock or kippers anymore. Never any salt and pepper on the tables or sauces around and by the time someone came back with this (if you waited) food was cold. The pepper was a huge pretentious pepper grinder which deposited lumps of black pepper like grit over your food. How silly was this, in a hotel in the morning we just want fresh hot food, salt and pepper and sauces on the table or readily available (oh one morning no tea spoons anywhere!!).

In the evening the restaurant was busy and active as it is now an Italian theme (hence the silly pepper grinder I guess). This did look good and although we didn’t try it we heard the food was good. Our impressions are that all the emphasis is now on the restaurant and not the hotel and guests as such!

Summary, nice clean hotel, modern and the restaurant looked good in the evening. Our room 18 was a struggle for the toilet and shower, very noisy. Breakfast no where near as good as it used to be. Staff not as good as we remember but only from the point of view of feeling that you were known and made to feel welcome etc. No one was unpleasant or anything like that just never saw anyone to chat to or to get the feeling of who was actually looking after the hotel (like a manager or head receptionist or something).

Room Tip: All I can say is that we have had rooms before that were fine but keep away from 18 due to the noise...

A most inviting welcome. Warm, spotless and newly decorated. Personal attention was frequently offered to ensure a really nice stay. I expect standards will remain the same for the next visit as the newish owners are really trying to create something well above the norm. The associated Italian restaurant offered a keenly priced menu so no point in getting in the car and going elsewhere. I noticed that whatever was chosen was presented with much attention to detail. Very tasty food, well in excess of expectations. Just wondering if my review will impact on room availability for the next visit, perhaps I should have kept quiet?!!!!!

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the road have a lovely view of Godrevy lighthouse.
