We visited the museum earlier in the year and found it to be really interesting and informative...unfortunately it was closed on this occasion but when I'm next back I will definitely go again

“Strange but fascinating”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

This is a museum of many curios. There is much to look at and it can be a little confusing to take it all in. Worth a peek.

Good value and very interesting but they must have never refused an exhibit! Well worth a visit, good location and helpful staff.

“Wonderful collection lovingly displayed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

There are so many artefacts crammed into this old building, it takes a long time to appreciate them and to imagine the people who last used them. Loved the marvellous collection of photographs, a real treasury for anyone interested in lhow life has changed over the last 100 years. Many items are on loan or have been donated by locals. Immerse yourself, kids can search for the little cats and there are activity sheets for them too. Great to see it continuing, staffed by volunteers, and I really think this is what real museums are all about. Not a digital display in sight!

“Watch out for Tiny the wonder dog !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

Its raining in St Ives, unusual I know but it happens, and inevitably you walk into the Museum. It happens to us all at some point.
My advice is don't go there grudgingly with whining kids > tell them you hope ,if time permits and if its open, to take them on a magical trip to see Tiny the Worlds smallest and most cleverly stuffed dog. Tiny the little Dog who went down a mousehole and fought to the death with King Rat.Never mind Disneyland or Lego world this museum has the dusty stuffy promise of a magical adventure.Ask the kids to write stories about what happens here at night when the old curators have gathered up their knitting and gone back home to a Stargazey Pie in Temperance Terrace. Let this place embrace you ,if you are of a certain age, and gently waft you back to the Cornwall of your Youth.
