Great weekend at the Garrack - food excellent and good selection of wines - staff are are very friendly and welcoming - a character hotel - need a new mattress on the bed but did not spoil the stay :-)

Our mid December weekend break in Cornwall was just about perfect. The weather was kind to us and added immensely to our excellent stay at The Garrack. The room, service and food were excellent as was the leisure facilities. All in all a wonderful pre-christmas weekend.Due to its location Due to its locationat the top of St Ives the Garrack would be difficult for anyone not having a car and not prepared to using a taxi regularly. We cannot comment on public transport.

Room Tip: Recommend Room 24. Very quiet, closest to the pool and very pleasant sea view.

My partner booked at short noticve for a birthday treat for me. Had been once before for dinner so it was so so good that my partner decided this is where he wanted to bring me for a delicious meal. Nothing too much trouble, birthday banner, decorated table and a sweet in birthday style. Food first class, both dinner and the breakfast and presented superbly. Accomodation very comfortable if a little on the small side, great leisure centre so able to have a swim after dinner. Will come again.

Room Tip: Ours was room number 1, very small and cramped for the two of us.

I have stayed many times at the Garrack since the early 1980's being my preferred place if I needed an overnight down in Cornwall, or booked into their restaurant if travelling by on an evening. I found everything perfect on my first visit, and so it has continued. I thought things could not be improved, but every subsequent visit has seen something extra added. The situation overlooking the coast and St Ives is spectacular. There is always a friendly reception and one could not ask for better and friendlier service from all the staff. All the rooms are immaculate, with quiet comfortable bedrooms The cuisine is some of the best I have come across, at home or abroad. With a well stocked bar at reasonable prices, an indoor pool with jacuzzi and keep fit equipment, and then a comfy lounge with an open fire if needed, what more could one want.

Bought with a Groupon voucher so around 60% discount helped enormously. Very friendly, clean, very nice room with a real sea view across the bay. Breakfasts were well prepared and good choices. Dinners nicely presented although the Pigeon Breasts we had were overcooked which made some of them slightly tough on the surface.
St Ives off season (December) was pleasant. with narrow streets clear and the beaches and clifftop paths uncluttered. majority of shops were all open although some galleries closed.
Should think it is unpleasantly heaving in the summer?

Room Tip: Most of the rooms are designed to have a sea view so no real difficulties getting a nice room.

Have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Garrack Hotel. Our room was great with a lovely four poster bed, which as well as looking nice was very comfy, a great sea view and a jacuzzi bath.
We had two breakfasts and two evening meals at the hotel and could not fault the food at all. My wife has a few food allergies and after speaking to the chef managed to have what she wanted off of the menu. The meals were delicious and there was ample of it and neither of us could manage three courses !. Breakfast was great, self service for the croissants, cereals etc and you place your order for cooked. Food was hot and tasty and the sausages were the best we have tasted in an age.
The bar was great with lots of local beers and ciders and a large variety of gins and spirits. I believe it was the owner served us at the bar in the evenings and was the font of all knowledge on the local brewerys and on each of the gins. Prices at the bar were reasonable and the atmosphere in the bar and lounge areas were relaxed and with the coal fire, warming.
We used the leisure facilities, which included a pool, sauna, jacuzzi and gym. This was in a seperate building but could be reached through the hotel. The pool was great, warm clean and tidy, with towels provided. You are able to get food and drink in the complex after your swim.
The staff in the hotel were welcoming and friendly, and if you had a problem eager to sort it straight away.
The hotel is situated a bit of a walk outside of St Ives at the top of a very steep hill so make sure you have a comfy pair of shoes ! The advantage of it being up there is the great views. We dont tend to return to hotels but I think we might have to with this one.

Room Tip: We were lucky enough to have room 7 overlooking the bay. Room was spacious, quiet and warm with spec...

My wife found the Garrack Hotel on the Internet while searching for dog friendly hotels in St. Ives. We booked in for a weekend in November and were really impressed. All the staff from cleaners to the owners made us feel very welcome and couldn't have done more to make our stay memorable. Breakfasts were fantastic as we're the restaurant evening meals. We will definitely be booking again and recommending this hotel to family and friends. Thank you!
