“Welcoming,Friendly,Good Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2014

Just returned from this hotel(27march).First time in St Ives, and this hotel was the icing on the cake.Stayed Sunday to Thursday bed & breakfast on a late deal, but would not object to paying full price if asked..Great room on the side and rear of the hotel,32 if available.Beautiful view from lounge and dining room across the bay, and a short walk to the harbour, passing the local train station above the beach which does not intrude on the scenery. The breakfast menu had enough choice to satisfy the heartiest eaters ,from juices and cereals,to a full English.Staff were great ,could not fault them, cleaning, cooking, waiting on and reception. A special mention for Charlotte , who introduced me to a Guinness surger ,listened to my banter, good and bad jokes, always with a smile on her face.(The man with the umbrella with a hole in it).I turned down the part in the next Doc Martin series. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this hotel, and would stay there again. JUNEIL Austin .Stoke on Trent.

Yet another enjoyable stay in this lovely hotel. The breakfast menu or the, help yourself to what you want from, the buffet has something for everyone ( apart from any pudding heads who just want a raw carrot. I highly recommend the full Cornish breakfast. The Lighthouse Bistro was once again on top form and we ate there 3 evenings during our stay. A little disappointed that the chef didn't offer us a piece of his home made fudge this year but when we find out his home address we will get him. All of the staff that we met including the cleaners, reception staff and waiters were very polite and very helpful along with nothing seems to be too much trouble to them. A special thanks to James, although all the staff go that extra mile, he goes the extra mile plus a bit. Its not hard to get a good hotel but it's the staff that make it Great and the Chy an Albany is a great hotel. Clean room attended to every day, nicely presented food, relaxing Lounge and all with wonderful views. The hotel is 5 minutes walk from the harbour and only 2 minutes walk to the railway station. A great base station to tour a large area of Cornwall within minutes drive. All this at a sensible price

Reluctant to share this info in case it'll be too booked up when we next want to go!!.
Had a really great time there...Wonderful room , waking up looking out onto the Ocean was fabulous. We went to dinner the first night and went straight to Reception to book again for the second night,,there was just too much on the menu that we liked. We really needed to stay at least 6 nights...!

Room Tip: Worried it will become too popular If I let you know the best room in the house...but I will give yo...

If you want a friendly hotel in St Ives with friendly service, good food, comfortable rooms and great views over the bay all at a value for money price, then this is the place for you. We had a superior room with a large terrace area. The room itself was comfortable with quality fittings. Breakfast was excellent With a choice of fruit juice, yoghurt and cereals followed by a cooked breakfast of your choice- I would recommend the Full Cornish. We didn't eat.in the Bistro in the evening but did enjoy the bar snack menu while overlooking the bay.All meals were produced from local sources and were nicely prepared and presented. The hotel is a short walk from the Town centre although this does mean an uphill return. The staff are all helpful and friendly and with it being located on a cul de sac it was also quiet. I would certainly use this hotel again

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are very good

We stayed overnight after a superb meal at the Lighthouse Bistro. The food was very nice and perfectly cooked and presented, however, I did receive the wrong starter, the were very sorry and we did have free desserts. The staff are friendly, the rooms comfortable, it was lovely visiting St Ives again, with the weather beautiful and sunny which made the weekend perfect

I had to go to St Ives on business and wanted a hotel out of town, as the town centre is a nightmare to drive through, so not too much choice. I asked not to have a room at the back, as I was alone that often happens, I got a small room at the back! but it was clean and warm. The restaurant was a disappointment with Formica topped tables but the food was good, hot and came quickly. Breakfast was a bit sparse but the cooked course was again good. All in all value for what I paid but not too much comfort. Okay for 2/3 nights in the summer to see some of Cornwall but any longer might be a bit much. The staff were friendly.

we had a lovely room with a beautiful sea view ,The staff here are very helpful , friendly, and efficient especially the receptionist
Breakfast was very good indeed, home made granola, fresh friut salad ,special breakfasts cooked to order and of course a lovely buffet cornish breakfast .This is not a pretentious boutique hotel or indeed a luxurious stay ,but for a three star hotel short break it exeded my expectations !
