My wife and I were in great need of a winter break, so we took advantage of a special promotion being offered by Saga magazine (always a good read, by the way, even if you are not in the "over 50" bracket). We chose a three-day stay comprising half-board accommodation, and sensibly we paid a supplement for a sea-view superior room. We had a little trepidation after reading some of the reviews on this site, but having been there now for our first visit we feel that some of the criticisms were a little harsh and unjustified - at least in our experience. Maybe things are a bit different in the height of summer.
The room we had was a really large twin with a comfortable settee and two large single beds. There was also a large TV with just the four main channels, and although the bathroom was fairly small it was really nice - a bath tub, which I love, and a really powerful shower over, the bathroom being fully tiled all over.
The conservatory and lounge area in the hotel was very nice, but could at times get a bit noisy (wedding parties and the like). It did, however, cost £5 for a pot of tea or coffee for two in there. The high spot for us was the food at dinnertime, which was really excellent, though I felt the desserts fell a little short of the standard of the starters and main meals. Breakfast was fairly reasonable (but no sausages available?)
Weather was not great, but what can you expect in late November? For us it was a wonderful weekend of self-indulgence and relaxation. We will cerainly go back.
