Had a great time here. Great location and amazing food. We stayed on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis and the food was fantastic, well worth it!
We felt very much at home here the staff were friendly. We had to call reception a few times, once for an iron and ironing board and another time for room service, each time we had excellent service. The staff make you feel relaxed and nothing is a problem. Its great that the hotel has its own parking as there are a lot of places in St Ives where parking is such a problem.

Where do we start. A seven day stay £1955, total. Superior twin room with sea view and balcony. Bed breakfast and evening meal. Sounds good.BUT WAIT Car parking, Yes so long as there isn't a wedding or other function on at the hotel and then its dog eat dog and if you have been out your on your own. As far as anyone is concerned you can park in the sea. Also hotel guest get moved out of the main restaurant and into a small side restaurant. You are now starting to feel like you should have gone somewhere else. I found it necessary to have a long discussion with the restaurant supervisor with regards table serving. It was at time totally shambolic in the way they served the various table. The left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing. All that said the room was excellent, in the main the food was varied and well prepared. Sadly this was my second time there we went in 2003. I will not be returning

Room Tip: Prices will make your choice. Its always nice to have a sea view with a balcony. There is no road no...

Stayed last year but very disappointed with several things, firstly the cost paid £1800.00 for a week expecting hotel to live up to its price bracket, however it didn't. The room was very small lacking any special touch, no flannel and 1 bar of soap as big as a 50pence piece for 2people ! 1packet of biscuits, no water or anything else. During the week we had to endure 3 weddings we were moved out of the restaurant because of these and had to be crammed into a small conservatory. It seems the hotel rely on the weddings and ignore other paying guests, the pool is very small only really for children. The food was very good but the portions were quite small and we had to wait a long time to be served by miserable staff in tatty uniforms. The car park gets full when the weddings are on so people have to park on the lawned areas, however the beach is stunning and this is obviously the only reason people come to this hotel, but we will not be waisting any more of our money by staying here.

Room Tip: Be expected to pay extra for sea view and extra for a balcony.

After a late booking, we did not receive a warm welcome.

We politely asked if we could have a Z bed and were told this would not be possible due to the size of the room. This was untrue and later recitified when our reasonable request was met.

We politely asked if we could have a taxi for 7:45am due to our heliport flight. The first company could only supply one at 7:15am and it was only with encouragement the reluctant receptionist made a further call. This simple request seemed a bit too much.

We had rather hoped to enjoy a breakfast before leaving but 7:45am was too early for the Carbis Bay hotel.

Splendid location.

Charmless service at the restaurant. The initial offering (unidentifiable meats in an oily pesto) conveyed pretension with poverty of imagination. This was not something one would feed to a dog. The desserts were very good indeed.

We got married here in March and the hotel did not disappoint. The service we recieved from the whole team was amazing.
I stayed the night before the wedding as well and the room was huge with a garden view and a sea view, it even had a small balcony!

We chose this hotel due to the location and also as I am a local girl and love the area. All of our guests commented on the service and quality of food. We loved every moment of it.
To the guests complaining about noise from weddings, this hotel is one of the few that do not hold weddings during the peak summer months - therefore allowing guests ot make the most of facilites and location.

We had an amazing time and will definately be back to celebrate here again.

I stayed at this beautifully positioned hotel for a week. Yes the views are stunning but this hotel has lots of functions weddings etc and is therefore extremely busy and noisy with loud discos until 12pm and wedding guests outside and round and in the pool until the early hours and then the staff have to clear up. The holiday guests are not allowed in the conservatory or the dining room when these functions are on. The food was extemely variable obviously I presume because the head chef did all the banquet catering. Of the 7 nights the food was only good on 3. If you do book at this hotel ask for a room on the opposite side to the kitchens and dining room away from the noise. This hotel needs to decide who it is going to cater for functions or holidaymakers as it hasn't got the room for both.

Room Tip: Rooms on the opposite side to the kitchens and dining room

Just returned from a three night break at the Carbis Bay hotel and felt compelled to write a review because we are very disappointed.
Having looked at the hotel on there web site, we were looking forward to our break in what we expected to be a special hotel.
Whilst we chose to spend £220 per night on a hotel room, we wrongly thought that £220 per night would mean a good class of hotel, having stayed in this price bracket of hotel many times previously, we expected that price bracket to bring excellent service and attention to detail, however we were wrong.

Location - stunning views.
Room - Overall our room was good, it was a fair size, however the decor was rather dated. The web site showed modern decorated rooms, this was not the case with ours.
The bed was fairly comfortable, however there were no mattress toppers, or quality sheets and bedding that I would expect. The tea making facilities were in the wardrobe and had to be brought out as you would get steamy clothes every time you boiled the kettle.
Cleanliness - I was impressed by how clean our room was, we had maid service everyday and the room was cleaned to a high standard. The general public areas were fairly clean, however the stairs constantly had a fair amount of sand on them.
Food - We only ate breakfast in the hotel, the quality of the cooked food was very good, it was cooked fresh to your liking and was of good standard. The rest of the buffet, was nothing better than what you would get in a Premier Inn, the juices were not fresh, the fruit was all out of a tin and the legendary poor quality toaster was in situ!
Service - The overall service was certainly not to the standard we expected. The staff were not very personable, not very helpful and generally you felt like you were putting them out by staying at the hotel. This was the case with all the staff, restaurant, bar and reception.

Overall I will sum up our stay as really disappointing, attention to detail was not apparent, for example a £5 pint of Peroni was not served in the correct glass, no ice in a gin and tonic, charging you for a newspaper (this is the first hotel of this price bracket to ever charge me for a newspaper!), glasses left on tables not cleared, poor breakfast buffet, staff not friendly, I know these may sound petty things but when you are paying £220 per night, you expect a certain standard of hotel and the Carbis Bay Hotel, just does not meet that standard. They really need to do some research at what £220 per night buys in other Hotels, because they will soon realise they are not in the same league and really need to up there game in lots of areas.

Has the potential to be a really good hotel, however I won't be spending my hard earned cash there again.
