“Disappointing scam”

Typical of the Tate to follow its own agenda by exhibiting glib hokum rather than St Ives School artists

“Nice outlook.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2012

The architecture does little to invite you in, more like a computer generated mistake. Once inside, again there was confusion, no clear direction as to where you should go or be. In fact we found ourselves at the main exhibit without finding where to pay!! The views out from within are far better than those of the exterior architecture. The exhibits were lost by poor lighting and clear direction. The whole experience was like the emperors clothes, especially the exhibits. Step ladders left behind by the props department were in fact an exhibit. Oh please!

“Exhibitionism average.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2012

Building was very attractive, but the exhibition poor. Very exclusive tastes. The receptionist did tell us this though. Cafe overlooked the beach and was a very nice experience. I personally would not go back but my wife would. So it is probably again down to different taste's?. Please have a look at the beach outside, it has a nice cafe if you get board, and lovely views of the Cornish coastline. If there was a different exhibition on I might chance it again.

“STUNNING BUILDING”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2012

The building - inside and out - is lovely - modern and well designed for visitors. The current exhibition was excellent and thought provoking but we would have have liked some permanent exhibits displayed from local/famous artists.

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2012

I went to the gallery last autumn and, after all the hype, was quite disappointed with it. The building and location are the best parts but the actual gallery is small and, when I was there, did not have much variety. If you are into a particular artist then you might be in luck. I. however, not being very 'arty' and preferring more traditional forms (the Newlyn artists!) found I wandered through the gallery in well under a hour. Suffers badly in comparison to other Tate galleries such as Liverpool
