“First time here but it won't be the last!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

Just returned from a short break here. We stayed in a Jubilee caravan and we all agreed it was the best caravan we have ever stayed in. It was spotlessly clean, well laid out and had everything we could possibly need. The views over Talland Bay were stunning - even with an Arctic wind whistling around our ears. The site is clean, quiet late at night (which is a real bonus when you have 4 kids of varying ages with you!) and joy of joys the swimming pool is open at reasonable times and not, as we have frequently found recently, restricted by scuba diving or other fee-paying classes.
Can't comment on the entertainment as we didn't use the club house much but all the staff were courteous, friendly and welcoming. We had a problem with the TV as we were unable to play DVDs but this was soon fixed by a very helpful maintenance man and so everyone was happy.
If I had to make one criticism it is that there were no instructions on how to turn the electricity, hot water or central heating on. It would have been useful to have instructions on how to operate the various bits of equipment/appliances as every caravan we have stayed in seems to be different.
All six of us said we would like to go back again and it certainly gets the thumbs up from all of us!

Room Tip: Jubilee caravans are excellent and in the warmer weather the verandah would be a real bonus.

Many thanks for taking the time to write your review. We are glad that you, like so many of our guests, enjoyed your break with us and we do hope you will come and stay with us again.

We have taken note about the lack of instructions for the hot water, central heating etc and will look at providing some information in the caravan to help guests in the future.

Arrived Saturday 30th March 2013.

First impressions were good, nice location, Reception and Clubhouse refurbished and modern, friendly welcoming staff.

Booked Royale 2 bedroomed chalet. Outside the chalets look very tired and dated could do with a bit of TLC.

Chalet inside was a bit dated apart from the Kitchen which did look fairly new, but the chalet itself
was really cold and smelled musty and damp. There was no heating in either of the two bedrooms or bathroom. The main heating was a three bar electric fire and a spare convector heater. The electricity was on a coin slot meter which took £1 coins which is all a bit 1970's!

Before unpacking I asked at reception if they had any other accommodation with better heating that we could use, but unfortunately they were fully booked, they advised they would give us another convector heater to help.

Went to Clubhouse in the evening for the childrens entertainment and wondered why everyone was sitting with coats, hats and scarves on.. soon found the answer: No heating in the clubhouse! we sat through til 9.45pm to keep our daughter happy, but we were absolutely perished. We did have a meal there and have to say the food was really good - no complaints.

The beds were really cold and felt damp and I would imagine the mattresses have stood all winter with no heating to air them, getting into bed was really unpleasant. Its the first time in about 40 years I have had to wear socks in bed!!

Sunday morning the inside temperature was 6.9 degrees C and you could see your breath, decided to have a shower but the bathroom was so cold there was immediate condensation and the tiled floor ended up soaked...not pleasant experience. At this point we decided that we couldn't stay another six nights here and telephoned Hoseasons to see what if anything could be done. Unfortunately there was no other accommodation on the site so in all fairness Seaview did agree with Hoseasons to release the booking and refund the money we had paid. We ended up staying in Premier inns for the next 4 nights and went on to have a really good holiday.

In summary it was a cheap holiday and the old adage you only get what you pay for is so true.
If it was the middle of a hot summer it would probably be a really good place to stay, but March/April with temperatures outside of 5/6 degrees may be best to avoid this place.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room or caravan with proper heating not coin slot electric fires!

We are really sorry that these guests found the accommodation to be too cold. Unfortunately, the weather over Easter was the coldest on record for that time of the year and was not what one would expect to get in April. There is a limit to the number of heaters that we have and as to how many our electricity supply can cope with. We do charge for electricity in the bungalows - this is quite common on many holiday parks. We are confident that if these guests were to return whether the weather is normal, they would enjoy their holiday, as do the majority of our guests.

I have been going to this park with apx 25 other members of family each year enjoying the Dave Jade Show in the evenings etc... But over the last 4-5 years this park has gone down hill... Caravans are dirty and endless problems each time we now go. Entertainment gone down hill also... Very sad to see a once very good holiday park change into something very different.. Would advise anyone looking to holiday in this area to look else where as they are so many better parks around now.

We are always sorry to lose regular visitors and were disappointed to read that these guests feel the park has gone downhill in the last 5 years. We would of course dispute this as we have spend considerable amounts of money upgrading the venue and facilities, and replacing many caravans and generally upgrading the standard of them. We are just about to open our new extended development with 15 new caravans. We were sorry to read that they didn't enjoy the entertainment last year - our resident entertainer Captain Crumble is a big hit with most children and their parents, and the other acts seem to go down well. We still get lots of repeat booking from families who come back year after year.

Stayed here in May this year in chalet number 67. The windows were wide open when we got there but it didn't manage to air the place and it smelled damp. It was cold and the heaters were a waste of time at warming the place up. The immersion took an age to heat the water for the bath ( no shower) meter ate £1 coins.

We were constantly cold and the bedroom damp as were our clothes haning in the wardrobe. When we were leaving I had to move the side cabinet as I had dropped something behind....discovered that the wall was soaking wet as were others upon investigation.

The club was ok and the entertainment good. Pool ok but poor changing facilities. Needs a hell of a lot of work to bring it up to standard.

Complained to the manager via email and filled in a complaint form but to this day heard nothing.

Don't bother staying. Unless you fancy freezing to death and prefer damp clothes to dry.

Other than that we had a good holiday and loved Polperro.

Room Tip: don't chose room/chalet 67!!

We are very sorry that these guests did not enjoy their stay at Seaview. The vast majority of our visitors enjoy their holidays here and this is reflected in the high number of repeat bookings that we take every year.

Our bungalows and chalets are not inherently damp, but condensation can build up if the accommodation is not ventilated when guests are showering, bathing, cooking, boiling kettles etc especially when the weather is cold and wet, as it was for most of last season. It is a shame that these guests did not report any problems to us during their stay because I am confident that most problems could have been resolved, or we could have offered alternative accommodation. Unfortunately when we are notified about problems after a guest has left, we are not given any opportunity to rectify matters to allow them to enjoy their stay. I apologise if they did not receive a response to an emailed complaint. We can find no record of this but of course it is now some 8 months after their holiday.

WE had the most comfortable and enjoyable stay with Seaview.
Normally we stay in haven sites so expense, but we had 2 weeks for less than 1 at haven and also had the very good standards we are used to.
The accommodation we had was spotlessly clean and very comfortable
The food they serve is of a better standard to haven. The MC Mr crumble (Alan) is very helpful and pleasant. Infact there was nothing that we could complain about.
Well done Seaview my Star rating would be a SIX

We thank you for taking the time to write your review and were glad to read that you enjoyed your holiday at Seaview. Captain Crumble is certainly appreciated by all our guests and we are glad to say he will be coming back again this summer. We do hope you will come and stay with again in the not too distant future.

Firstly, kids entertainment was very good, the entertainer was first class for young children but don't bother if your kids are older than 9, nothing for them to do at all.

On arrival at our chalet we were taken aback by the 1970's style, very outdated, old and worn. We then discovered that the chalet needed coins in a meter for electricity, which proved over the week to be extremely expensive for reasons that will become clear.

On the first night we were cold, very cold and we noticed a strange damp line starting on the wall. It was too cold to have windows open but that is what was suggested by staff. By the Wednesday the damp line had turned into seriously soaking walls, everything, especially in the main bedroom and including the bedding was damp to the point of literally feeling wet and freezing, even with two electric heaters going 24/7 (costing a fortune).

The bathroom was covered in mould, the kitchen was filthy and seriously dated, the water heater took forever and only warned the water slightly and then getting in the shower was terrible as water literally dripped out, extremely difficult to get clean.

The pool at the resort didn't seem to have any chlorine in it and looked dirty, the play park was less than clean.

On the Thursday we could take no more and were moved to a different chalet, which within hours was damp and cold, and although the decor was slightly better the damp/cold was just as bad. If we had not still places we wanted to visit in Cornwall we would have left half way through the holiday.

The kitchen was so dirty we refused to eat/cook there so our food bill eating out went through the roof.

Worst holiday ever experienced by either of us. I wholeheartedly say DO NOT BOOK A CHALET AT SEAVIEW.

After putting in a complaint I have just received a letter saying they are going to refund us £86, which will go a small way to paying off my credit card bill for food on the holiday.

I will put pics up of the damp and some of the dirt

I had booked to stay here on a sun holiday, I wasn't expecting much after reading some of the reviews on here but as were allways out and about we figured we wouldn't be in the much to be bothered however it may be. The first thing we noticed when we opened the door was the smell .... obviously someone had spilt milk and not cleared it up .... there is no way the cleaner would not have noticed that smell so they were obviously not bothered about it. We bought an air freshner which made it almost bareable. We were advised that £5 electric would be enough to see us through the week the next night BING we were in darkness making us rush down to the club at half past eleven hoping and praying someone would be around to help us with another card.

It was very cold, damp and musty the fire in the living area only had 1 bar working but the heater for the bedroom was fine.

It did appear to have been cleaned, i couldn't complain it was dirty just very smelly, the kitchin was quite new but the cupboards were already smelling damp.

On our last night it rained and rained .... and you wouldn't believe it our chalet sprang a leak ... on check out I did mention the leak and tried to mention regarding the smell and the fire not working properly but the lady on the desk turned her back walked away and started speaking on a phone....... that was my lasting memory of my holiday had the lady apologised how different it would had been

I had very fond memories of this camp as we used to holiday there often but I am so glad i didn't have my children with me as I wouldn't like this holiday camp to be a memory for them associated with Cornwall.

Room Tip: Don't book a sun holiday with them as they give you the worst accomadation possible
