“Old Smuggler's Haunt-- Good Food and Drink in Atmospheric Setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2014

Stopped in for fish and ale. Good service. Good food. Good portions. Good value. Great Cornish ale. But the quirky, old-time atmosphere was even better. Love the history of pirates and smugglers. Would definitely go back. A very good meal amid the ghosts of Jim Hawkins and Long John Silver!

“old and atmospheric”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2014

This is one of the oldest pubs/restaurants in Penzance its little alcoves and old pieces from ships and dark and atmospheric and relaxing seating. When we got the menu it told you all about admiral Benbow and about the smugglers tunnels under the pub that go the sea and it told of the meaning of sea fairing saying it was good to read while we were waiting to order. We all got different dishes they were all lovely and big portions we were stuffed but managed a dessert as well afterwards we stayed there for drinks the staff are lovely would recommend you try it reasonably priced I loved it

Cute quirky little pub in Penzance, a must visit.
Great character, friendly bar staff and fantastic food. What more can you ask for generous portion size too.
Will definitely be returning.

Went in for a drink and could believe the decor. It was unbelievable and really interesting. In addition, everyone we met was really friendly. I would recommend a visit if you are in Penzance.
