“Good stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

We had a lovely overnight stay at the Queens for Alan Paver's Testimonial Dinner. The food was great, the room was clean and comfortable and staff were a very friendly happy bunch and exceptionally polite and helpful. The hotel is old fashioned but nothing wrong with that, it has a large enough car park and is right on the sea front.

Room Tip: Try and book a front room with a sea view if you can.

Suddenly stranded in Penzance overnight as our flight to St Mary's was cancelled due to fog, we had to find accommodation at short notice for our party of eight. The Queens could not have been more welcoming and gave us an excellent price for B&B of £50.00 per room. The rooms were spacious, clean , warm and very comfortable with beautiful sea views and we had a most enjoyable stay.

A complete surprise for my wife as part of our 25th Wedding anniversary I decided to head back to Penzance where we honeymooned. She only twigged when we got very close and the signage became obvious.

I had wanted to completely reprise our original stay but that guest house had closed some years ago so I chose the Queens for an initial night while we got our bearings. I hoped I had made a good choice.

Reception were friendly and helpful, and the room we had with a beautiful panoramic view of the whole of Mounts Bay, was exactly as we were expecting. The en-suite was clean and everything worked with lashings of hot water.
We found the hotel to be comfy, quiet, and interestingly un-modernised (we like faded glory). There was a Christmas party underway in one area of dining, but evening service was still good, as was the food and wine and after we retired to a very pleasant bar area for a nightcap.
Breakfast was a choice of menu, I had full English, my wife a lighter option from a buffet. No complaints on either.
Interestingly we didn't pay as much as some seem to have, and probably would never, for any hotel, and so on that basis we found the experience at the Queens Hotel, pleasant and good value for money, Staff were courteous, one young lady stayed with us long after service should have finished to attend to our needs, and the French maitre de certainly knew his wine and conversed well.

Our expectations are reasonably high, and we were not disappointed.
There is also free Wi-fi, but as we were in relaxing mode this was not a big concern.

Free Parking to the rear was also secure and plentiful.
The hotel served as a comfy base for a trip down memory lane, and is convenient for St Michaels Mount, Lands End, The Minnack Theatre and the Newlyn Art Gallery, all of which we revisited.
Thanks.

Room Tip: We enjoyed the bay window sea view to the front of the hotel.

We stayed at Queens in September in the most charming spacious room with the seaview. Sit slightly back, and you will have impression that you are sitting by the sea. Wonderful!
It is a family-owned hotel, the service is brilliant, fine food in hotel restaurant and very good choice too!
We will definitely come back!

Room Tip: There is a road with some traffic on the seaside, it is not very noisy, but if you are very sensitiv...

Unable to get accommodation near the Minack so ended up in Penzance and how glad we were to discover this Hotel. Lovely location wonderful view ( if you are lucky enough to get a sea view room).Everything for our comfort in our charming spacious room. Very clean . Staff could not have done more , helpful , professional , efficient , and the picnic they provided for our visit to the Minack was quite amazing all packed up in a designed haversack, excellent. This hotel experience would encourage me to visit Penzance and the surrounding area again, and I recommend it to all. Very good value for money.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view if possible. If you are going to the Minack ask for a picnic.

My nephew and I stayed at the Queen's Hotel on 18th & 19th September, 2012 and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lovely rooms on the top floor overlooking the Bay with fantastic views. Could have spent hours just sitting in the bay window admiring the view. Everything we asked for was provided and there were no problems at all. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and comfortable, we couldn't have asked for better. The food, breakfast and dinner, were excellent and the staff friendly and helpful, especially Jo, Lucinda and Henry. I am amazed at the (thankfully few) poor reviews on here, don't let them put you off, they certainly do not reflect our experience of our two-night stay at this hotel. I am not easily pleased when it comes to hotels - this one I found to be faultless and it certainly made our holiday. I would not hesitate to stay here again if I find myself back in Cornwall, in fact I would make a point of doing so.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are great. I always prefer to be on the top floor. We were in 95 & 96.
