We stayed for two nights having booked completely blind on the internet lured by a reasonable website, the idea of a heated pool and the positive restaurant reviews. Echoing some other comments, yes the car park is awkward but we managed and one of the first things you'll likely see in reception is indeed one of the two beautiful long haired cats. The receptionist was pleasant and helpful and while we booked a standard room, we were upgraded to a superior room which wasn't bad I suppose for the rate of £130 a night. Our room (room 10) had a dual aspect view of the bay and St Michael's Mount and was clean, of average size and absolutely unremarkable in decoration. We peeked in the room next door which was being cleaned and it was much smaller and much dodgier in decoration! We were woken early each morning by the people in the room above stomping about - not the hotel's fault that those guests were heavy footed but just a point to note that the soundproofing isn't the best.
In another review, someone said the pool was dirty but while we didn't get to go in it, it did look perfectly clean when we went and surrounded by lovely gardens.
Breakfast was really good with the usual array of cereals, juices and cooked options. The first morning it was warm enough to eat it outside with a view towards the bay which was great but there are only 3 or 4 outside tables.
Dinner was a VERY mixed bag which I'll cover in a separate review of the restaurant but if you like being surrounded by flies (both alive and dead ones stuck to traps), fruit in your starter, uncooked dessert, very reasonably priced wine yet a big total bill then you'll be happy.
We didn't really have many niggles apart from being asked if we wanted a newspaper for the first day and not the second day, being way overcharged for our very honest use of the honesty bar (!!!) and a checkout process with someone lacking any hospitality skills. They are also a bit mean with the wifi access - only 30 mins complementary each day.
For us, the hotel was nothing more than 'ok' - I guess competitively priced, clean, close enough to walk to town, near the main road to get to other places of interest and a good breakfast. Having toured around Cornwall, we think there are plenty of better options near to good restaurants etc. at a similar price so hard to recommend on this experience.

This reviewer has given me consent to make a few corrections, which they were unable to do once their review was posted:-
The next door room into which they peeked was a sea view single room with oversized bed & full ensuite bathroom and consequestly not to be compared in size or price with the double room they occupied. [the decor is a matter of opinion]
The restaurant bill was £130 on account of £60 spent on wine and did include Lobster and Sover sole in the 3 course meal for two.
There was NO charge made for the honesty bar which had in fact been overlooked. [it was the restaurant wine tab]
The plague of flies which was referred to occured during a particularly hot few days when the french windows were open. The unsightly 'fly traps' referred to have now been removed.
Unless guests wish to specify different newspapers on different days of their stay, we assume the one asked for on day one is the one ordered on each day of their stay. You only need to ask and we'll get whichever one you want.
