Stunning location, set on the beach of Tolcarne in Newquay, a private beach open to the public during the day time.
I've stayed at Tolcarne beach bungelow 4/5 times over the past 15 years usually during the summer. This time however it was the first week of December and a long deserved weekend break.
Despite the cold, breezey and wet weather, there is something still magical about being able to watch the rolling waves crash onto the beach from your sofa.
There are not many places you can stay where you can walk out of your front door onto your patio and straight onto the golden sand of a beautiful beach with the cliffs as your back drop.
The beach bungelow has a twin and a double bedroom and a sofa bed in the lounge. The decor has a contempoary look but staying true to the traditional seaside feel.
The bathroom boasts a large shower and a large victorian style bath, with 4 of us staying their we never ran out of enough hot water.
The Kitchen has everything you would need while on holiday, a large fridge freezer, microwave, washing machine, oven, hob etc.
The lounge area has 3 good sized sofa's, a flat screen tv with freeview.
Ouitside you have a patio area with storage for your wet suits, patio furniture and plenty of room for a BBQ.
Now, there is a review I read on here from Tomangojo which complains that the apartments say they are dog friendly and that it is a joke as no dogs are allowed on the beach.
Well Tomangojo should of gone to specksavers. The beach bungelow is advertised as dog friendly (not the apartments) and during the summer dogs are allowed on the beach before 9am then after 6pm (I think). And during the day you can walk your dog up the cliff road if you want to go out(which backs onto the bungelow) or let it out on your patio area. During the winter months you can let your dog on the beach anytime.
Tolcarne beach also boasts a restaurant (Kahuna) which I ate at twice and was suitably impressed by quality and price (it was a rubbish cafe when I first stayed here). There is also a shop and cafe bar, surf shack facilities, glamping, suff lessons and hire. Is this what Tomangojo described as very poor facilites????? I think not.
I could be picky and reel off a few minor annoyances that I found with my stay, but why bother? Im not on here because I think I am AA inspector and my laptop gives me a little bit of power trip.
The reason I don't feel the need to find fault is because it's all about location and the overall experience you are left with, and Tocarne ticks all the boxes
If you want to eat at the Kahuna restaurant in the summer, then book in advance
