The best views ever - beautifully decorated, sound of the waves and really helpful and friendly staff. A great walk round to Newquay when the tide is out. Fantastic restaurant/bar - Kahuna next door.

This was our first time to Newquay and when we were coming into Newquay i thought oh dear what have we done but then after walking 127 steps down to Tolcarne Beach i fell in love with Newquay! The Shacks were amazing and had a lot more space then we thought and my little boy was in his element! We stayed for 5 days and felt we didn't really need to move from this little resort because it was so perfect and the weather was perfect too, however we did venture out and went to Fistral beach and into the centre. The facilities were great the shower was always hot and clean and the kitchen had the basic things in toaster/kettle/microwave and fridge. We ate out on the first night and then had take aways delivered to out shack the rest of the nights. The beach looked exactly like the pictures on the website, it actually feels like your abroad somewhere! We also tried Kahuna which i have to say i didn't think it was that spectacular i thought some of the staff were rude and the food was pretty average i think why people rave about it , is because of the venue not because of the food! The only downfall is getting your fifteen million items out of your car and walking down 127 steps there and 127 steps back to go and get another suitcase, but next time we are going to pack wisely!!!!! We have already booked for next year and we can't wait!

I would defiantly say book it, pack it and ............ because you will love it!!!!

Stayed here recently for a long weekend, in the surf shacks. They exceeded our expectations, they were roomy, cosy and most importantly had one of the best views of the sea i have ever had in any hotel/apartment. Nightly patrols by security also meant it was safe. The shacks are also very quiet - double glazed windows mean you can only hear the distant murmur of the sea and not much else!

The toilet and shower blocks were clean and fine for a few days stay. Only downside is you can't cook in the kitchen other than a microwave, but if you are happy to eat out then this is fine. And also no power point in the shack for charging phones etc, but you can take these to security to charge if necessary.

Amenities on the beach are fantastic, surf school, Venus cafe and Kahuna beach restaurant are all great and convenient.

The surf school was also fantastic, well organised and well priced, so take advantage of having a few lessons there!

I was recommended the Tolcarne Beach Apartments by my sister, and was certainly not disappointed. I called a couple of days before our stay to confirm our booking for two couples, and was offered a free upgrade to a three bedroom apartment, which was very much appreciated, as were the fresh scones, jam and clotted cream we found awaiting us after we arrived.

The location could not be bettered (once one has found the entrance to the steep road down!), the staff are very welcoming, and it is reassuring to have security on site overnight (the security guy is really friendly and helpful).

The apartments themselves are very comfortably appointed, and we were lucky enough to have the upstairs bedroom and the beautiful view. As we were staying in the apartment closest to Kahuna, there was a little noise from the restaurant late at night, and the proximity light did disturb us on the first night, but that really is the only (very) small niggle. We can't wait to return!

Room Tip: If you want quiet at night, ask for the second block (away from Kahuna)

We've just returned and we were very impressed with the whole beach enviroment for Tolcarne; apartments, Kahuna, surf shop, office.

Firstly whilst we were on our long journey down Kate from the office txt me to say that she was nearby so could we please ring her when we arrived so that she could welcome us - opposed to the usual out of office hours arrival, which is still straight forward by getting our key from a secure location - but we were to discover she was actually having a meal out with friends in Kahuna Restaurant and was happy for us to interrupt so she could welcome us properly.

We are a family of four, with two small girls, and our two bedroomed apartment was just lovely, the master bedroom was especially nice! We had 2x velux windows in the 'roof' which extended out so you could really see out beyond the tiles. All apartments have balconies off the lounge/diner/kitchen. The kitchen is small but had everything we required for a four night long weekend stay (no dishwasher for those planning a week or more). Worth noting too BBQ's are not allowed on the beach or the apartment balcony or premises. There is a Tesco Express, Aldi and Asda all within a short walk for either pizza's or 'ping' meals and Sainsbury's is over towards Fistral Beach/Headland area. There is an oven & hob for the culinary active whilst on holiday, though the most we did was sandwiches, sausage butties and hot Weetabix! There is a Pizza Express too at the top of the cliff towards town centre - under Rocklands apartment block, you can eat in or out on the terrace looking out to sea.

We had an abundance of white fluffy towels between the four of us. Bathroom was downstairs adjacent our girls twin room, we had a corner electric shower unit in our ensuite so didn't have to worry about a full hot bath for the girls leaving us short.

Steve in the surf hire shop on Tolcarne was very helpful and not at all concerned at our lack of knowledge on surf/body boarding preceedings. He arranged for our beginner surf lessons and Emma from Dolphin Surf was lovely. We all had great fun and thankful for Charlotte who came along with Emma to take professional photographs, so at least we had the proof of our enjoyment!

Kahuna restaurant neighbouring the apartment is a 'must eat' location if you are staying down on the beach, it opens for lunch & dinner. Be warned, you must book ahead at weekends especially but probably every day in peak season as its a very very good eatery.

Don't forget to take your favourite tea's and coffee's with you for the apartment.
The famous road down is exciting, but not unmanaegible. All part of the fun.
