“Bit disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2014

The negatives:
1.Wording on the menu a little confusing- the burgers don't come with fries, you pay extra for them and a side.
2. No onion rings on menu, to me they kind of go hand in hand with this style of food.
3. Service was not great. Young waiter not at all knowledgable about the menu, forget things requested and lacked confidence, don't think waiting tables was his thing. Also put off by his pants hanging out of his jeans, not nice when you are eating with his pants at face level, pull em up!
4. Portions were huge. Although lovely the complementary bread and butter was not necessary and very filling.
5. The disjointed drinks menu. There was a separate wine list, another flyer with cocktails on the serving counter, soft drinks were on the back of the regular menu and I don't think the spirits were listed anywhere in the restaurant. It would make more sense to have on one menu.

Positives:
1. Food was tasty, although burger was a little dry.
2. It was good value for money.
3. At 715 on a very busy sat evening we did not have to wait for a table.
4. Decor was great. Well situated with lovely views.
5. Good atmosphere
6. There is the option to take away any food not eaten

“Food good, but portions far too big!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2014 via mobile

Not the cheapest of restaurants, and the staff are a little bit slow in my experience.

However, the food is very american - big portions and average quality.

Location is nice, especially top floor by the window (ask or reserve these seats) good view over Newquay beach.

“Really good experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2014

The above restaurant has only been open a month, the premises is on 3 levels, the restaurant on the top floor with great views of the sea. Décor was great with great Texas influence, the beer was excellent, Sam Adams, Boston beer on draught, nicely kept. Margaritas very good too.
Food very good, with a good choice menu and complimentary warm bread rolls.
The staff were great, attentive but not pushy.
There is a small lift for the disabled.

“Great food, excellent service and gorgeous views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2014

Went along with daughter and partner and had a marvellous time there. Fairly busy when we arrived and so couldn't sit by window for sea view, but within 5 minutes a table became vacant and we asked to move there. It caused absolutely no problem or fuss to them and they quickly cleaned the table and made it ready for us to relocate. Two nice complimentary chef's hat shaped bread rolls arrived. Had 2 starters between 3 of us, the Pulled Pork Hush Puppies and assorted BBQ sliders which were both really tasty. The mains - Piggyback and standard Hamburgers were beautifully cooked and had a real home-made taste and feel to them. Chips had a spicy salt added and definitely not greasy at all. Reason for not giving 5 stars is that the Ribs were slightly on the dry side and did not fall off the bone. Overall though, more than enough to feed the most hungry of people.
Very friendly service and whilst I don't like leveraging technology in restaurants, the push button for getting more drinks and the bill was very useful. Drinks were a reasonable price as well. Total bill came to £52 for the three of us.
Would definitely come again for the Burgers if nothing else. And if you can get a table with a view, it's well worth it too.

“Quick drink”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2014

Popped in with my partner one night with a view to getting food at the bullpit. Decided to have two drinks in the bar having seen the price for an 8oz Sirloin is a whopping £21!! We were the only people in the bar & while the decor is very quirky & the chap with the tattooed arms was very nice I can't see this place making the money with some competitively priced competition directly opposite. Lower the prices & maybe turn the air con down (it had been a hot day but jeez I was glad I had a jumper!) Stag do's will enjoy.

Thankyou for popping in for a drink. Regarding your observation about the price of the steaks. We actually changed the price 2 1/2 weeks ago to £15 for a ribeye and £16 for a sirloin. I did not realise until I read your review that we had neglected to amend the price in the exterior menu box!
All the menus available inside the restaurant show the correct price.

Hopefully you will come back and try the restaurant upstairs. Your are quite right the bar is sometimes quiet, but since opening the restaurant has been averaging over 100 diners a night and on Friday and Saturday between 150 and 200 diners so booking is recommended.

We make no apologies for the fact that other restaurants close by are cheaper. The difference is our food is cooked fresh and we do not even have a microwave on the premises. If you peak through the kitchen window in the lobby you will see steaks on the flame grill being cooked. The most expensive dish on our menu (other than the family sharing platter and the all you can eat option) is £17.95 for two portions of freshly slow cooked meat and two sides with complimentary fresh bread. Our family sharing platter works out at less than £10 a head.

Sorry about the air conditioning. we are only just opened and this week has been the first time we have used the air conditioning in anger. We still need to get the balance right.
