I stayed at this hotel for 1 night with my husband and 2 daughters. It was a last minute booking and although when I phoned up the owner could only offer me the same rate I could have got on the internet at £140 for 2 double rooms although steep having checked out the reviews on trip adviser I was prepared to pay that bit more for what sounded like a great place.
My best comments are I am glad we had booked somewhere else for the rest of our stay in Newquay! The rooms were tired and not that clean, the showers didn't work properly they were either scalding hot or a freezing cold trickle. The mould in the bathrooms had been painted over. I wouldn't agree it is in a quiet location - we stayed on Sunday night and the hotel is situated on one of the main roads leading from the night life in Newquay which was evident from shouting in the streets until at least 4.30am! Breakfast was another experience. It is served at 8.45 when the bell rings and everyone lines up - reminded my kids of the school canteen! Unfortunately the food was worse than school dinners. If I had paid cheap B&B rates we would have laughed it off but in my opinion this hotel is grossly overpriced and in need of serious updating.

An excellent hotel where value for money and the friendly owners and staff are to be complemented. In writing this I am doing a bad service to myself as when word gets around I will not be able to get a return booking.
This hotel was very friendly and you are not just classed as a number. The location is excellent just far enough from the noise of Newquay but within easy walk of the main attractions.
Service is first class and the rooms are comfortable and very clean.
A hotel for all ages where no one is excluded.
Thanks John for a very pleasant stay.

We stayed here during half-term for three nights, with our two teenage children. We booked two rooms direct with the hotel. We thought that the rate of £36 DBB per person per night was very reasonable. It is not a large hotel, 36 rooms.
The hotel staff were very efficient and very friendly - from making the booking right through to the waitresses. The bar man - Alan - has to be witnessed to be believed. His Jethro style banter whilst serving drinks and his warm up stories to the evenings entertainment (usually a singer of some kind) had us in stitches.
The food is straight forward English fare - good breakfasts and evening meals.
The decor is slightly old fashioned, but everything was spotlessly clean. There were plenty of towels in the room and tea and coffee were provided. The owner, John, spent time checking that the guests were happy and all the staff were helpful and attentive.
We stayed here because we wanted somewhere in Newquay to use as a base to do some of the South West Coast path walks and we would not hesitiate to return. We know of a few large hotels with 3 and 4 stars who could learn a lot from the team at the Glendeveor Hotel.

My friend and I went to the Glendeveor Hotel, Mount Wise, Newquay from March 20th to March 24th and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Hotel was everything we could have wished for and the Staff made us welcome. They were all very pleasant, the Hotel spotless and the food was all the best. I will be going there again without a doubt.
