stayed for 3 nights between xmas and new year - these apartments are top quality and furnished to a high standard - lovely and clean nice and warm - my only gripe was we asked for a double and ended up with a twin bedded apartment - the beds were not very comfortable and sloped into the middle - this was my only complaint.
they are in a very good location very close to watergate bay beach and you can walk to the Jamie Oliver 15 restaurant and the other restaurant on the beach called the beach hut - also a pub next door to the apartments does food (although we have not eaten there) and there is the watergate hotel - apart from these there are no other pubs/eateries unless you drive out to other villages - but because of the self catering facilities in the apartment you may not need to go far - they really are lovely apartments and we would certainly recommend them .

We stayed in Beachcombers for three nights at the end of the October half term and managed to get a sea view 2 bedroom apartment with a balcony. Parking was adjacent to the building which was a nice surprise, and we were pleased that we could access our apartment early, enabling us to get to our lunch booking at Jamie's 15! We really love this place for lunch - if you get a later booking you can usually get a window seat and while away the afternoon watching the sea with a decent glass of wine and lovely food in a relaxed atmosphere. The set lunch is only £25 - great value compared to the evening taster menu which is around £60 (plus you don't get the views in the evening!).

We also tried the Beachshack for breakfast (the food was excellent) the Phoenix for take-out pizza (handy) and also the hotel for drinks (great as the sun goes down). The beach is the most beautiful spot for strolling and rockpooling - we had to wrap up warm as it was late October but that was fine, and it didn't seem to deter the surfers!

The apartments were surprisingly well furnished with practically everything you could want - our only complaint was that a family of elephants were staying upstairs and kept us up until the early hours of each night. :( And next door's family woke us up every morning! Only other observation is that there isn’t a shop in Watergate Bay - not even for a newspaper! So make sure you stock up before arriving and if you go out.

Overall - we'd really recommend it and would go back if we could get a top floor apartment - if not to Beachcombers, then to the adjacent Waves.

Booked for 3 nights on a Waitrose special offer, for £105 per person we had a 2 bedroom apartment with sea vew, dinner in the nearby Jamie Oliver 15 Restaurant and Sunday lunch in the Porth Veor Hotel in Newquay.

As it was such a bargain price I was a little nervous of the quality of the apartment, this turned out to be mainly unfounded. On entering it was a little musty but opening the windows soon solved this. There was a good sized kitchen/living room/dining area (the kitchen was very well equipped). The main bedroom had an en-suite and the twin bedroom had easy access to the main bathroom. The decor couldn't be described as 'luxury' but it wasn't bad - and for the money it was very good indeed.... A couple of areas could do with a deep clean - for example the window ledges and the cooker.

One other observation was how warm the apartment was, both couples had bedroom windows wide open all night,(and this was November) we didn't have the under floor heating on at all - I think this would be a real problem in the summer (if we have one again!!!).

One final comment was the rather frosty greating from the woman on reception - warmth clearly not her thing - when dropping off the keys she didn't even ask if we'd had a good time - its the little things that make the difference and it really would cost nothing to show a little more interests in the guests....

Apartment was great clean and spacious

We booked a long weekend and found it to be a very relaxing break.
Jamie Olivers 15 was less than a five minute walk and is beautiful also the Watergate bay hotel is next door and lovely for a evening meal or just drinks with a massive balcony.
The phoenix is another restaurant/bar that provides surfing lessons so lots to do for a really quiet area.

The rooms were great sizes however we were not told until we arrived that all double rooms come with two single beds. We were allowed to move the beds together or the sofa pulles out into a double and there is a double duvet in the room.

Everything was perfect, including the view but unfortunately for us the bus was our only mode of transport, although they arrive exactly on time they were every hour so if you missed one you had to wait around and on Sunday there were only two buses all day!

There is a morrisons in Newquay but the reception have some essentials.

overall its great for a relaxing break away from the city as it was a half hour bus ride into Newquay.

Perfect for a quiet location but central enough to use as a base into Newquay and Padstow.
Less than five minutes away from the beach and Fifteen restaurant.
The pub next door does takeaway pizzas and reasonable priced evening meals and the Watergate Hotel is fantastic for drinks and dinner exceptional service and good food.

The accommodation was pristine, spacious and the kitchen had everything you needed including a dishwasher.
The only flaw was the twin bedded room but there is a pull out double bed in the living room.
It does make it perfect for a family holiday apartment.

Can't wait to go back. Book it now while you can still get in.

We've now stayed at Beachcombers 3 times and it's never disappointed us ! The location is stunning and the apartments are so comfortable, clean and well equipped.
The pub next door serves great food and is very family friendly - we had a 3 yr old and a 10 yr old with us. The bistro on the beach is also very good but we didn't try Jamie Olivers place.
Watergate Bay is beautiful.
I would STRONGLY reccomend paying a bit extra for a seaview - we stayed in an apartment without one the second time and really regretted it.

We have just spent 5 days at the Beachcombers and would recommend these apartments wholeheartedly.

We made a last minute booking for a 2 bedroomed apartment on the first floor with a seaview. It was well worth asking for a seaview as we had a lovely outlook across to Watergate Bay.

The apartments are clean, comfortable, spacious and very well equipped. We were also pleased to find that the heating was good too. Lovely white fluffy towels and fresh white linen was provided. Everything was 'fanciable'

We could hear no activity from other apartments.
We had a couple of 'equipment' malfunctions but these were dealt with speedily and efficiently. We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly.
There is a little office/shop which is open a couple of times a day where basics can be purchased but provisons are no problem with the closeness of Newquay and it's many shops.

Only a couple of minuses - one was that the internal doors were fitted with closers which are very heavy and secondly the double bed was quite small but that is only a problem if you are used to a queen or king sized bed which we are.
The position of the Beachcombers in Watergate Bay is an ideal base to explore Cornwall and I recommend it 100%.
We hope to return again.

  • Liked — cleanliness, position, spaciousness, good equipment, friendly staff
  • Disliked — heavy doors and small double bed.
